Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Kranjska Gora, then we continue driving towards Rateče. In the settlement Podkoren we turn left, and after the bridge over the Sava Dolinka we join the cycling road, which we follow to the right, on which we can drive only up to the nearby parking lot, where we park.
B) Over the border crossing Rateče we drive into Slovenia, then we drive towards Kranjska Gora. Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the cycling road towards Rateče, and soon from the right the path from Zelenci joins us. Further on, we walk through a strip of forest, where we cross a torrent, and when we leave the forest we notice a pasture and some wooden huts on the left. Here we leave the cycling road and continue on a cart track to the nearby hut; from the hut onwards we continue slightly to the right towards the foothills of the forest. The path ahead leads us along the edge of the forest, then the trail becomes clearer, and at the junctions we follow the signs for Planica. Further, the path leads us across some hay meadows, from which a beautiful view opens up on the surrounding mountains, and at the junctions we continue to follow the signs for Planica and Tamar. Higher up, the path leads past a smaller ski slope as well, then we arrive at Dom Planica, where we continue right and walk across the parking lots to the Nordic Centre Planica.
From Planica we continue on the macadam road towards Dom v Tamarju; before the road enters the forest it splits into two parts. We continue on the slightly right road in the direction of the footpath towards Tamar (slightly left is the driving road, which is closed to public traffic).
The path ahead leads us along the road, which past the last parking lot of NC Planica enters the forest and which in winter is converted into a cross-country ski trail. There follows an ascent along a gentle road, which mostly runs through the forest; when the path leaves the forest, there are viewfinders along the path with signs indicating what can be seen. Higher up, the forest thins out several times or we leave it for a while, so beautiful views open up on the mountains rising above Planica and Tamar. When we are already quite close to Dom v Tamarju, a wonderful view of Jalovec also opens up, and the path splits.
We continue slightly left (slightly right the source of Nadiža) and about a minute further we join the driving road, along which past the chapel we arrive at the mountain hut.
