Planina Polog - Planina Prode

Access to starting point:
First, we drive to Tolmin, from there we follow the road in the direction of Zatolmin (we leave the main road at the traffic light). In Zatolmin we notice the hiking signposts for Javorca, which direct us onto the ascending road towards Javorca. The occasionally quite narrow and in places precipitous road brings us after approximately 8 km of driving to a smaller intersection, where the road towards Javorca branches off to the left uphill. We continue straight and after approximately 100 meters we reach the marked parking lot where we park.

Route description:
From the marked parking lot we continue on the macadam road, which is further closed to public traffic. The road initially runs alongside pastures and then leads us past the shepherd's hut on Planina Polog. We continue along the scenic road, which soon turns into a cart track and leads us into the forest. The cart track, which ascends only slightly, quickly brings us to a marked junction.
Here we leave the cart track leading towards the source of the Tolminka and turn onto the right cart track, which transitions into a footpath after a few meters. Next follows a descent towards the river Tolminka, where we reach an interesting hand-operated cableway. With the help of the hand-operated cableway, the use of which is at one's own risk, we cross the river. On the other side, we ascend the slope above the river, which leads us into the forest. Here the footpath becomes less steep and guides us past some ruins. Along this path, we soon reach Planina Prode, where there are a few huts and ruins.
