Pivola (Reka) - Mariborski razglednik (Cigelnica) (via Petkovo sedlo)

Access to starting point:
We leave the Štajerska highway at the Rogoza exit, and then we follow the signs for Hoče. When we reach the old road Slovenska Bistrica - Maribor, we cross it at the traffic-light intersection, and then we drive first through Spodnje Hoče, and then also through Zgornje Hoče. The path ahead leads us past the restaurant and pizzeria Anja; when the road a little further at the inn Rečnik turns left, we notice the beginning of the marked path on the right. At the starting point, there are no arranged parking spots for hikers.

Route description:
After the inn Rečnik, the mountain signs for Mariborska koča and Skalca waterfall direct us left onto a path that passes by a nearby house and transitions to a pasture. Across the pasture, where no trail is visible, we ascend transversely to the right, and higher up on a tree we notice a mark that directs us into the forest. Through the forest we ascend more steeply, and we bypass Frankovo kapelico a few dozen steps to the right. A little further we reach a narrower asphalt road, which we follow to the right; after a short ascent we carefully cross the main road. On the other side of the main road we continue right and continue walking along the second side road, which leads us past a few more houses; before the last house we continue slightly left onto a path that takes us across a meadow into a belt of forest and shrubbery. Here the path leads us along the hedge closer to the house; when we return to the main road we follow it left, and from the road we quickly go right onto the marked path, which ascends along a one-way road. A fairly steep ascent follows, passing a few more houses; when the road forks we continue straight onto the footpath that goes into the forest. We ascend through the forest for a few minutes; when we leave the forest we step onto the main road again for a few dozen steps. From the main road at the marked junction we go right onto the side, also asphalt, road; when the road enters the forest we go left onto the marked footpath, where at junctions we follow the marks. Higher up the path widens into a poorer road, along which we arrive at a larger object which we bypass on the right side. At the object the path returns to the forest, where we follow the marks again; when we leave the forest we also bypass another object on the left side. A little further we reach a macadam road, which we follow to the right, and we continue crossing the slopes to the right. Amid beautiful views the path leads us past a cross, and after the cross we gently descend to the nearby house, which we bypass on the left side. Continuing at a few smaller intersections we follow the marks, and passing individual houses we arrive at the marked junction at Petkovo sedlo.
At Petkovo sedlo we join the path from Fram, and the path forks. Along the slightly left road the path continues toward Skalca waterfall, slightly right leads the road toward hotel Tisa, right leads the path toward the hunting hut, but we continue straight in the direction of Mariborska koča.
We continue across the meadow between two roads, then the path enters the forest, where we follow the marks. Higher we cross the main road toward hotel Bellevue once more, a little further we leave the forest. We continue past a cross as well, and when we reach the asphalt road from the marked junction we continue, from which we head onto the side road in the direction of sv. Bolfenka and hotel Bellevue (left Mariborska koča 3 minutes). We continue along the side road, which leads us through the settlement of holiday houses; in the settlement we continue along the upper left road, which begins to ascend more steeply (straight sv. Bolfenka and hotel Bellevue). The settlement of holiday houses ends after a few minutes, and we continue along the marked cart track, where at the junctions of numerous logging trails we follow the marks. Higher we reach the path that leads over Ledinekov kogel, but we continue right and begin to descend gently. Just a little further the path that leads over Pečke joins us from the left.
The path ahead takes us out of the forest and we arrive at the lookout tower on Mariborski razglednik.
