Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Kozina, and then we continue driving on a regional road from Kozina towards Bazovica / Basovizza (Italy). Only a little after the national border we get to the settlement Pesek / Pese, where we park near the village church.
The starting point is situated on the right side of the parking lot, where we notice a macadam path.
Route description:
The marked path at first leads from the starting point on the macadam road with a view of Slavnik on the southeast and partial view of the Gulf of Trieste and valley of Glinščica on the west. After 15 minutes, we get to a marked junction, where we leave the macadam road and follow the blazes through the forest. The path is easy and marked. After 30 minutes, we get to the official peak Kokoš (674m).

Pardon, now I realized it's not Via Alpina R2. Path 28 starts somewhere by the sea, over Kokoš and ends somewhere on the Trieste Karst.

From the church on Pesek you can also climb to Kokoš along the "Vertikale" trail - the alpine path of SPD Trst, marked with white-blue markers... The mentioned path at the barrier above the church turns right towards Gročana village and follows the asphalt. After about fifteen minutes (we must watch the signs) it turns left into the forest, where it follows old cart tracks and leads past former ice houses (walled caves where ice was stored), and overgrown beehives and abandoned lime kilns, then slowly climbs to the collapsed building which is in photo No. 7. From there onwards along the fire wall, which is now on our left to Kokoš.
