Access to starting point:
We leave the Maribor-Graz-Salzburg highway (A9) at the Gratkorn-Süd exit (first exit before the Plabutschtunnel).
We turn left in the direction of Graz-Andritz. At the next traffic-light intersection, we turn left in the direction "Weiz, St. Radegund".
We follow the road to the end (approximately 3 km), where at the intersection we turn left again in the direction of St. Radegund.
After 4 km, we pay attention to the left turn-off in the direction of Rinegg. We drive through the settlement of Rinegg to the rehabilitation center, where at the roundabout we choose the 3rd exit and continue uphill.
We drive on the road to the highest point of the road, where we park at the "Schöcklkreuz" parking lot.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we head towards the gate and further to the nearby mountain signposts, which stand at the junction of two macadam roads. From here onwards along a well-beaten path we follow the blazes.
In between on the path we cross a macadam road a few times. When we briefly come onto a macadam road, we pay attention to the mountain signposts, which direct us left up the rocks.
We follow the path in the direction of the forest and meanwhile enjoy the view towards the north.
When we come to the forest, the path leads us up a very steep rocky-forest slope.
Behind a larger rock, where we have to use our hands for assistance, we soon step out of the forest onto a meadow.
Up the meadow we go past the wind direction indicator and further to the start of the wooden path, along which we go to the upper station of the cable car.
We bypass the station on the right and continue along the wooden path past the transmitter (on the right), past the mountain hut (on the left) and past the playground in the direction of the smaller transmitter.
When we come to the end of the wooden path, we spot the cross of the western summit.
