Access to starting point:
Through the border crossing in Rateče we drive through Trbiž / Tarvisio, Ukve / Ugovizzo to the place Tablja / Pontebba, where we turn right following the signs »Passo di Pramollo / Nassfeld« (Slovenian Mokrine). On the pass, still on the Italian side, before the lake, a road branches off to the right behind the hotel towards Planina Javornik (Auernig Alm). Immediately after the turn-off, on the right side of the road, is a parking lot where we park.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we head onto a cobbled road towards the mountain pasture Javornik (Auernig Alm). At the junction of the road, which is closed to public traffic, there are also signposts. The road, which is cobbled in the initial section, ascends more steeply and then leads us through the forest. Further on, the road becomes a gravel track, and soon views begin to open up towards the surrounding peaks. This road then soon brings us to the mountain pasture Javornik (Auernig Alm), where a shepherd’s cottage is located.
