Access to starting point:
The village of Mikro Papingo is the last village. A road from the settlement of Aristi leads to it, which climbs in hairpin bends from the crossing of the Voidomatis river to the village of Papingo and a little higher to the starting point in the village. We park next to the church in the village or somewhere nearby; a spot can be found.
Route description:
From the starting point, we ascend through narrow streets to the top of the village, then along the marked path towards the Astraka refuge. The path gradually transitions from forest to pastures with individual trees. There are a few arranged springs along the path where water can be drawn even in summer. At around 1650 m altitude, the path branches off to the right from the main trail to the refuge. We continue on it and climb through grassy rocky terrain. The path is initially visible but unmarked. After an hour of walking from the junction, we reach the flat grassy southern slope of the mountain, up which we ascend to the summit with the aid of cairns (the trodden track is not visible).
