MHE Zali potok - Tegoška planina

Access to starting point:
We drive to Tržič, then through the Dovžanova soteska gorge and Dolina to Jelendol. In Jelendol at Born's manor we continue straight, then we drive on the main road to the next left turn-off onto the forest road, which is situated next to the MHE Zali potok. We park at a suitable spot at the crossroads.

Route description:
From the main road, we go over Tržiška Bistrica, then past the MHE facility, we continue on a relatively steep forest road. The road further leads along the left side of Zali potok stream, which higher up has two waterfalls. Higher, we arrive at the lower edge of the mountain pasture Zali potok, where the road ends, and we bypass the first cottage on the right side.
The path continues on a cart track, at crossings choosing the wider cart track. After a few minutes a quite steep cart track joins from the left, which bypassed the first cottage on the left side, and we continue on the cart track to the next cottage, located on the mountain pasture Zali potok.
We continue straight, the cart track leads us into a somewhat sparser forest, where it forks. The noticeably wider cart track turns left and leads to and across the stream, while we continue straight on the steeper cart track. A little higher, when the cart track becomes more grassy, we reach the next junction, continuing sharply right onto the grassy cart track (straight on the cart track we can reach Zavetišče na planini Šija). The cart track first ascends transversely to the right, then makes a left serpentine and continues ascending transversely to the left. Higher we enter dense forest, where the cart track turns right. Here we continue along a small valley, from which we go slightly right on an overgrown path. We quickly exit the forest, ascending on an overgrown cart track to the nearby forest road.
We reach the road at the quarry and follow it to the right, walking on it only briefly, as a wide cart track soon branches off to the left. We continue on the mentioned cart track, at the smaller junction taking the wider right one. A quite steep ascent follows, then after a few minutes we return to the macadam road, ascending it to the nearby crossroads.
From the crossroads we continue on the right road towards Tegoška planina (left to planini Šija and Pungrat). A few ascent serpentines follow, then the road, without major elevation changes, crosses the slopes to the right. When the forest ends we have already reached the edge of Tegoška planina, then descending along the road to the hut on Tegoška planina.
