Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled, where at the traffic-light-controlled crossroad the signs for Pokljuka direct us to the right. We follow this road, which in the lower part runs through a few villages and later starts to ascend more steeply, to Mrzli Studenec (mountain pasture located more than 50 m behind the crossroad where the road to Bohinj branches off to the left downwards). In the middle of the mentioned mountain pasture, a road branches off to the right from the main road, leading to Medvedova konta, Pri Rupah and mountain pasture Zajavornik. Here we turn right and follow the road to the next crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Medvedova konta (straight to mountain pasture Zajavornik). The road ahead, after a short ascent, descends and brings us to the next crossroad, where we continue left in the direction of Blejska koča mountain hut. We then follow this road to the parking lot in front of the gate; further driving is forbidden.
In winter, the road to the described starting point is usually not passable.
Route description:
From the parking lot we continue on the rough road closed with a gate, which quickly turns into a cart track. Soon the path from mountain pasture Zajavornik and the monument Pri Rupah joins the moderately steep cart track. We continue the ascent on the very wide cart track, which in a gentle ascent brings us to the grazing area of mountain pasture Lipanca in a few minutes. Here the path turns right and leads us in a moderate ascent along the right lower edge of the mentioned mountain pasture. There follows a crossing of the grassy slope and the path, which brings us back into the forest, makes a sharp right turn at the NOB memorial plaque, after which we reach the shepherd's and mountain hut on mountain pasture Lipanca.

Great trip, effortless, nice gentle path.
I must praise the hut keepers, very friendly attitude towards guests. 
We'll probably come back here tomorrow.

Blejska koča is permanently open. Otherwise, you can also read hut information on the PZS pages.

The hut is really open permanently, except when Jože takes his annual leave. And that is, according to the data I know (at least that's what the caretaker Jože confided to me) this and the next week. In winter time it also happens that the hut is closed for some weekday, because the caretaker has to replenish stocks of food, drinks and fuels.

Just last weekend I was at Lipanci. The caretaker said that the hut will be closed from 8.11. to the end of November.

Today, 10.4.2011 I was up there. You can't drive to Medvedova konta by car because there is still snow on the road in places. I left the car at the junction for Planina Klek, from where it's another 2km to the parking lot. Also on the path to the hut there is still some snow in places. The hut is open permanently, every day, all year.

The path is nice, poorly marked! Whoever praises the food in the hut should go up again!! Unfriendly caretaker, wife the same! Today's menu: barley soup or Carniolan sausage! Offers barley soup with sausage, but you have to take the whole sausage (pair)! No wonder people only drank, and mostly what they brought with them! Never again!!

The camera doesn't work because there is no longer one. The caretakers have resigned.
The hut is currently closed. If a camera is installed with the new caretaker, we'll see.

Thanks for the reply. The camera was replaced sometime at the beginning of summer (after several years) and soon after that it stopped working. It's surprising that the hut is closed at such a frequented location?! What a shame.

Because the tenants are changing, a lot needs to be done and the hut should be open soon.
