Matke - Mrzlica (via Kočet and Kriška planina)

Access to starting point:
We leave Štajerska highway at exit Šempeter, and then we follow the signs for Šempeter, Šešče pri Preboldu, and Matke. When we arrive in Matke, we continue driving along the stream Kolja, and we drive to a crossroad where it says Matke left and right (house numbers left 56-65 and 81, right 55 and 66-71). Here is the beginning of the described path. We park in a suitable place nearby, ensuring that our parking does not obstruct traffic or any potential forestry or other activities.

Route description:
From the starting point, we head onto a slightly right road (slightly left toward Kamnik via the southern path and Mrzlica past Počivalnik), where we first cross the stream Kolja, and then, with a diagonal ascent toward the right, we climb to the tourist farm Uplaznik, where the road turns left. The road continues with a diagonal ascent toward the left, and blazes quickly lead sharply right onto a cart track (it is also possible to continue along the road, as it leads to the homestead Kočet, where it joins the marked path - the road path is slightly shorter than the marked path), which ascends for some time along the lower edge of the forest, then enters a dense forest and climbs onto the northeastern ridge of Golava, where it turns left and begins to ascend more steeply along the forested ridge. Higher up, we reach a marked crossing where we join the path starting from Prebold, and we continue left toward Mrzlica (straight toward Golava and Mrzlica via Golava, right toward Prebold).
Next follows a gentle diagonal descent, and then we reach the meadow Na Goljavi, where we bypass the homestead at "Golavski Micki" on the right side. The path ahead leads us along a macadam road, and when we reach the indistinct southern ridge of Golava, Andrejeva pot to Golava (sometimes called Ovčja pot) branches off to the right.
We continue along the road, and a little lower, paths from Marija Reka join from the right, namely from the starting points at Strgarjev quarry and Koritnikov bridge, but we continue left in the direction of Mrzlica and descend slightly further along the road.
At the Kočet homestead, we reach the saddle between Golava and Homič, where we turn right (straight leads to Mrzlica along and by the ridge of Homič), and we walk along the road to the Zgornji Dolinar homestead, where signs for Mrzlica direct us left onto a path that ascends above the road.
Here we diagonally ascend through a scenic meadow, from which a beautiful view of Golava opens up, and then the path enters the forest and, after a short crossing, brings us to a forest road, which we follow upwards, passing a small spring, and continue to its end, where a marked crossing is located by a turning point.
From the crossing, we continue straight (left Mrzlica on the forest logging trail) in the direction of Mrzlica over Kriška planina (on maps we notice Kriška planina, but on the hiking signposts Križka planina) and at first, we continue on a cart track which initially ascends diagonally towards the right, and higher up towards the left. Next follow a few more crossings, where we follow occasionally sparse blazes, then we turn left from the cart track and ascend through a strip of forest to the lower edge of Kriška planina. An ascent follows across the mountain pasture, where the path leads us along a cart track, and we reach a macadam road which we follow to the left (right Podmeja and Trbovlje). The road we walk on soon enters the forest and leads us to a marked crossing, where a path from the forest logging trail joins from the left.
From here, we don't walk long on the road before arriving at the next crossing, where the Prebold mountain trail branches off to the left, ascending to Homič, while we continue further along the road. Next follows a diagonal ascent over a scenic grassy area, then the path returns to the forest, where a path from the left joins, leading over the peak of Homič, as well as the path from the Kočet homestead, which runs along and beside the Homič ridge.
Here we continue straight, and we also go straight at the next junction, where a path branches off to the right, leading directly to the summit of Mrzlica, but it is not marked. A little further, signs for the Dom na Mrzlici and Mrzlica direct us from the road to the right onto a footpath, which ascends in a few minutes to the mountain hut, and from the hut, we go right and in less than five minutes reach the scenic summit of Mrzlica.
