Losenheim (Parkplatz am Schneeberg) - Sparbacherhütte

Access to starting point:
We leave the Austrian highway S6 at the exit for Neukirchen, then follow the signs for Ternitz, and from there continue along the road toward the settlement Puchberg am Schneeberg. In the settlement Puchberg am Schneeberg, we turn left toward the settlement Losenheim, and from there drive a bit further to a larger parking lot by the Schneeberg Sesselbahn cableway, where we park. The parking fee is 6 euros per day (September 2023).

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the asphalt road, along which there are signs for the mountain huts Edelweißhütte and Almreserlhaus. A little further, the path splits, and we continue right in the direction of the mountain hut Edelweißhütte (left the mountain hut Bürkle Hütte) and proceed along the macadam road, from which we soon turn left onto a footpath that continues partly through the forest and partly alongside the ski track. Higher up, we leave the forest and reach the grazing slopes below the saddle Fadensattel, to which we ascend with beautiful views of the northern part of the mountain Schneeberg and the surrounding hills.
On the saddle, we cross a grazing fence and then continue left (right mountain hut Almreserlhaus - 2 minutes) and continue walking on a gentle wider cart track. In less than five minutes of additional walking, we reach a crossing before the mountain hut Edelweißhütte, near which a chairlift also arrives, and we continue right (straight to Klosterwappen via the demanding path Fadensteig) and in a few steps reach the mountain hut Sparbacherhütte.
