Lipa - Grmada (by road)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Ljubljana - Šmartno, then continue driving towards Tacen. In Tacen just before the road over the bridge crosses the river Sava continue slightly right in the direction of Pirniče. A little after that, when Ljubljana ends, we arrive in Vikrče, and a little further to Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 EUR/h - December 2012).
B) From Šentvid drive to Tacen, there immediately after the bridge over the river Sava to the left towards Pirniče. A little after that, when Ljubljana ends, we arrive in Vikrče, and a little further to Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 EUR/h - December 2012).
C) From Medvode drive to Zgornje and then to Spodnje Pirniče, and we follow the road to club Lipa, where we park on a large parking lot, which is intended for visitors of Šmarna gora (price for parking is 1.5 EUR/h - December 2012).

Route description:
From the parking lot we return to the road, from there we continue towards Zavrh. Soon we arrive at a smaller junction, where to the right branches off the road towards the birth house of Jakob Aljaž, we continue straight in the direction of Zavrh and Šmarna gora. Further we cross a strip of forest, then we arrive at the first houses in Zavrh. We continue on the "main" road which continues among the houses, at marked junctions we continue right in the direction of Šmarna gora. The asphalt ends at the "last" house, we continue on a steep road, on which driving with cars is forbidden (exception residents). We continue on the road which steeply ascends through the forest. Higher a marked path over Peske joins from the right, we continue on the road which further leads us past the NOB monument and the plague column. Higher the road turns a little more to the left and brings us from the forest onto panoramic slopes. With a view of the summit of Šmarna gora and the Kamnik Savinja Alps we quickly arrive at the Gorjanc homestead, from which a short walk follows to the marked junction at Na Sedlu.
Here we continue left further on the road, which soon splits into two parts. We can continue the ascent on the road, in this case we ascend to the summit past the wish bell, or continue right on the marked footpath, which past the chapel of St. Sobota also brings us to the summit of Šmarna gora.
