Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana-Jesenice highway, take the Lesce exit, from where we drive to Bled. From there we continue in the direction of "Pokljuka, Zgornje Gorje". At the end of the mentioned village, on the left we notice a bus stop, on the right the road turn-off towards Radovna, which we follow. Immediately after the mentioned turn-off, when the road descends, we turn left into the settlement, where we also notice the sign with the map of Pokljuška gorge. We continue driving through the settlement to the macadam surface, where after approx. 1 km the road descends to a bridge, over which we arrive at the parking lot or starting point.
Now it is no longer possible to reach the mentioned parking lot by car, so we park earlier, which extends our path. The arranged parking lot is located by the primary school in the settlement Zgornje Gorje and by the cemetery in the same settlement. Parking in the TNP area is allowed only at designated spots.
Route description:
From the settlement Zgornje Gorje, along the described path to the starting point, we walk in approximately half an hour to the former parking lot at the beginning of Pokljuška soteska. Here, on the left (southern) side of the parking lot, we notice the information board "Pokljuška soteska", where we follow the path leading to the destination. The partly ruined path leads us along and through the bed of the stream Ribščica uphill through the forest towards the gorge. Along the path, we are accompanied by blazes "P" and information boards. Soon we reach the wall with inscriptions and directional signs. Here we first turn left towards the gorge, the natural bridge, and the galleries. When we ascend a few meters, the wide space of the gorge first appears to us, where in the upper left direction we can notice the attractive natural bridge. The path continues into the picturesque narrow part of the gorge, through which we quickly ascend to the courtyard below the galleries (currently collapsed 10.6.2009, so do not try to climb up to them - deadly dangerous!).
Here, to the right in the alcove on benches, we can rest, or proceed a few more meters higher in the direction of "Zatrnik", from where we look into the space below us, later returning towards the previously mentioned wall with inscriptions. When we are there, we head right of the inscriptions (straight uphill) towards the so-called "Luknja". We reach this attractive cave or large rocky natural passage already after a few tens of meters of further uphill walking, which continues in the passage itself. Towards the top, the path ascends more steeply, becomes somewhat exposed, and turns left (from here we can continue towards Pokljuka), but we end our trip here and return along the same path to the starting point.

Yes, it's true, the gorge should already be fully passable, or something like that. Its reopening is planned for the end of August, I think on Sunday the 30th. We happily welcome this long-awaited step by the municipality of Gorje!

The last three photos (taken today) are from the first part of the trip - soteska. So, before returning back to the wall with inscriptions. (second part of the trip = luknja) In sequence they should follow from about 13.(14) onwards. The soteska is from today officially fully passable.

We set off for a trip through Pokljuška soteska on Saturday. The path and galleries are in good condition. Instead of returning on the other side of the galleries left via Zatrnik or right via Planina Pokljuka, we followed the gorge all the way until the path joins the gravel road. This section is also worth seeing and I recommend it if you want to extend your visit to the gorge a little. You can read more about our impressions here.

Last Sunday, with the aim of mushroom picking, together with a good mushroom expert and mountaineer, I walked through Pokljuška soteska, then back and through Luknja to Staro Pokljuko. You wander through the forest, pick mushrooms, but that Sunday it was rather dry. We traversed the vast Pokljuka forests towards planina Lipanca and then below the abyss in Medvedovi konti, along hunting trails we joined the marked path from Lipance to planina Javornik. Here, after a short chat with the planina owner, we quenched our thirst with beer, then continued through the forest to Kranjska dolina. We continued the path to the valley along the marked macadam road to the starting point at the parking lot before entering Pokljuška soteska. Nice and long trip, attaching some photos.

I recommend this hike to families with children. A very nice and interesting path where you can connect every part with fairy tale creatures, so walking is interesting even for our "little" strikers. The galleries are nicely arranged, but interesting is the path through Luknja to Planina Pokljuka and back by road to the starting point where we left the car. All together it took about 1.5 hours.

I was in the gorge last autumn. The path that I luckily discovered seems worth mentioning to me. First I went over the gallery, later when the path branches off to the left up the hill I turned onto it. Here you reach a junction: one goes left, one right. If you go right you reach Zatrtnik. I recommend the left path. By which you literally go over that sharp part behind the gallery, thus to the other side of the gorge. The path continues back along the gorge. Later there is another junction, at which we turned down the slope and ended the circular path through the natural bridge.

yesterday (6.4.2014) wandered around here.....unfortunately impassable due to fallen trees......no need to promise me when it will be cleared, but when the cleaning will happen and if your two hands are not too many, I will gladly join the action....

Today I was in the gorge (11. 7. 2021) and it is passable, fallen trees long removed, galleries fine. At the junction of the circular path I chose the longer path to the galleries (right). This one steeply ascends at the beginning through the "Luknja", so I recommend this direction for those who don't want to descend a fairly steep slope. At least that's true for me The descent on the other side is not demanding. Shortly after "Luknja" there is a branch to Pokljuka, but the main circular path is well marked and can't be missed.

Due to this year's storms and floods, the path is damaged. At the entrance to the gorge, there is a warning that hiking is at your own risk. The path is passable at least to the first waterfall behind the galleries (I went that far), but you have to clamber over quite a few rocks, as some wooden steps are no longer there. The galleries are undamaged.

Since the day is long and the walk above Plavški Rovt rather short, we went to see the Pokljuška soteska. The introductory description scared us about parking, so we parked by the road at Zatrnik, in the spot before the first bend. Unfortunately, as the parking lot at the starting point is perfectly regular, parking of course allowed and even with a WC. Tour of the gorge, up through the Luknja and circular back to the Galerija. Spring colors, moss-covered fallen trees, flowers and wonderfully funnel-leaved common ferns won't leave you indifferent. Wonderful and highly recommended, especially the pleasant cooling in the narrow draft under the galleries!

Today, 18.5.2025 I was in Pokljuška soteska. Access from the lower side. The previous author tango wrote that the parking lot on the lower side of the soteska (access through Gorje and Krnica) is completely normally accessible and legal and I took his word for it. It doesn't hold entirely, because in Krnica at the last house there is a sign that driving further is permitted only for landowners. Nevertheless, I went further on reconnaissance, drove along the (narrow) road to the parking lot and there were already 3 vehicles. Obviously for now we ignore the traffic sign. We'll see how often inspectors will be there (in season). Otherwise the path from the parking lot is OK, the circular path takes one and a half to two hours - today very nice, met about 8 people.
