Access to starting point:
On 30.08.2008, I set off from the village Krivčevo to the mountain pasture Mala planina. Village Krivčevo is situated on the road between Kamnik and the valley Savinjska dolina. From Kamnik, you drive through the village Stahovica and then continue on the main road until you reach the village Krivčevo (4-5 km from Stahovica). In the village Krivčevo, you will hardly find a parking spot, as the only larger available parking spot is in front of the snack bar Okrepčevalnica pri Jurčku, but there is a sign stating that parking is allowed only for guests. Since a kind word finds a kind place, we first went for morning coffee and blueberries at this snack bar and then asked them if we could leave our vehicle on their property. They allowed us to park, and we could set off towards our destination.
Route description:
From Okrepčevalnica pri Jurčku, go around the corner of the house, where there is also a mountain signpost, uphill. The path is very well marked with mountain signs. This time we went uphill four of us, including two younger retirees who don’t have much hiking fitness, so we need to consider the walking time from this perspective. Definitely, the pace was appropriate for a family with younger children. At 08:20, we leave the snack bar and, after a few steps, leave the houses of the village Krivčevo and start ascending. The walk lasts quite some time, but the path is laid out in a zigzag, so the ascent isn’t too steep. During the ascent, we could see trees that were damaged in this year’s (2008) storm. At 09:00, we reached a larger clearing where a larger farm stands. I assume this place is called Podkraj, if we look at the map. The walk continues past the farm and two weekend houses uphill, and at 10:05, we reached the road to the mountain pasture Kisovec, where a larger number of personal vehicles were parked. So, if you want to shorten your path to the mountain pasture Mala planina, you can drive to the mountain pasture Kisovec. From this point, you can take the macadam road to the 2 km distant Dom na Kisovcu, but we went across the road and continued uphill. The path continues through the forest, as it did up to this point, and at 10:35, we reached the edge of Mala planina and saw the first mountain huts characteristic of Velika planina. From here to Jarški dom, it’s a few minutes of walking, and at 11:00, we arrived at the door of the cottage. Here, we treated ourselves to various dishes (ričet, sour milk, vampe...) and at 12:00, we headed back toward the starting point, arriving there at 13:45. P.S.: It should be noted that Mala planina is only part of the Velika planina plateau. The path from Jarški dom could be continued all the way to the top of Velika planina, called Gradišče, which is at an altitude of 1666 meters. From the cottage to Gradišče, it would take approximately 40 minutes.

hi, from Jurčka to Podkrajnik it's dry, the paths further to Gojška planina and Velika planina are well trodden. yesterday it was nice, only from Jarški dom onwards there was a strong north wind blowing. pleasant trip. good luck and best regards

Today there was no crowd, we started from Stahovica past Sv. Primož, it's quite windy up there but the wind isn't really cold, fog is dancing around too, good thing Mare already set up the poles . No smell of snow at all

Does anyone know if parking at Jurčk is still possible or if there are any alternative options? I would go on this route once after work and since it gets dark quite quickly now, it would be a bit annoying to first have a coffee, and I don't drink alcohol anyway when I go to the mountains

During the week no problems, but on weekends the lady is strict if the car is there half a day and takes space from inn guests. When I was in a hurry I at least thanked at the counter, otherwise I bought the lady a drink and chatted a bit.

Thank you. I fully understand that the lady might be upset. It would already be awkward for me to ask her if I can park there, because then she could quickly have a full parking lot with only hikers and no customers. I just haven't noticed any other options. One possible would be to park at that sharp right turn, which is about 500 meters further towards Črnivec.

There is space for about two cars along the road in front of the school. The parking lot in front of the closed gostilna Logar is also mostly empty.

I'm just commenting this for future hikers planning this path to Velika Planina, as the walking time is completely unrealistic in my opinion. From Krivčevo to Jarški dom, 2 hours is already plenty, and if you're a bit fitter, 1.5 hours is enough. Personally, I hike this path often, and it's about 1.2-1.5 hours to Domžalski dom; up and down about 3 hours with drinks and a break at the hut.

A bit late, but I must describe a quite horrific incident from about two weeks ago on this path. Nice weather, luckily few people. As I was walking slowly and thoughtfully on the nice and pleasant trail for us hikers, suddenly a strange rumbling above me "woke" me. It was already in the last section of the path, about halfway from Jevšev konfin. Instinctively, I jumped off the path at the last second! A group of 8 to 10 mountain bikers rushed past me! They literally sped over all those stones, roots.... I was horrified! I got lucky. If I hadn't reacted so quickly, I can't imagine what would have happened! Then I thought, yeah "excellent" cyclists! What about larger groups of people, children, etc., which is common on this path! Later I thought I should report it... But I didn't. All I can say is, keep your ears and eyes peeled and happy hiking!
