Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the Vodice exit, then continue driving to the first traffic-light intersection in Vodice, where you continue left in the direction of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Brnik. When you reach the main roundabout in Spodnji Brnik, continue driving in the direction of Cerklje and Krvavec ski resort. At the end of the settlement Cerklje na Gorenjskem, leave the main road which continues towards Velesovo and Visoko and continue driving slightly right onto the road in the direction of the Krvavec ski resort. Further on, you reach the village of Grad, where signs for the settlement Ambrož pod Krvavcem direct you right onto a steep asphalt road (straight ahead: bottom station of the gondola lift to Krvavec and Štefanja Gora). When the steepness on the steep road eases somewhat, you will reach an intersection, where you continue left in the direction of the settlement Ambrož pod Krvavcem (straight ahead: settlements Ravne, Apno and Šenturška Gora). A little further on, the road temporarily descends a bit, then ascends through occasionally quite panoramic slopes. Higher up, you reach Ambrož pod Krvavcem, where you pass the church of St. Ambrož and the tourist farm Pr Ambružarju on the left side. From the tourist farm onwards, the road enters the forest and ascends through it all the way to the mountain pasture Jezerca, where there is a large arranged parking lot. Here the road flattens and turns left, and about 500 m further on it brings you to an intersection, where you continue right in the direction of Kriška planina (straight ahead: upper station of the gondola lift and Planinski dom na Gospincu mountain hut). There follows only a short steep ascent and you reach the parking lot on the edge of Kriška planina.
The road from the mountain pasture Jezerca to Kriška planina is now closed to public traffic; this extends the approach by approximately 15 minutes.
B) From the Jesenice - Ljubljana highway, take the Kranj - east exit, then continue driving towards Brnik, Komenda and Mengeš. Route description:
From the parking lot, head onto a wide cart track that goes under the cableway and starts to ascend across pastures (direction Dom na Krvavcu mountain hut). The moderately steep path brings us to the Dom na Krvavcu mountain hut after less than 30 minutes of walking, from which a nice view opens towards Gorenjska.
From the hut, continue in the direction of Zvoh along the road that takes us past the chapel and transmitters on Krvavec to the Razor saddle (saddle between Krvavec peak and Veliki Zvoh), where there is a road junction. Continue straight along the ridge (right to Krvavec peak, 5 minutes) and follow the increasingly steep transport-rescue road, which is occasionally paved, along the edge of the ski slope to the reservoir on Veliki Zvoh. From the reservoir, ascend to the nearby summit, then walk over the wire fence to the summit logbox, which is located just a few steps below the top.
From Veliki Zvoh, continue along the marked path along the ridge named Jež. The relatively easy ridge path starts to descend after a few minutes of walking and brings us to a technically demanding spot. With the help of steel cables, ascend the steep and crumbly gully, which is exposed to falling rocks. The gully is short but long enough to cause great difficulties for inexperienced hikers. The difficulties then disappear and we follow the pleasant path, which mostly runs along the ridge, to two successive junctions. At the first, the path to Mokrica and Koren mountain pasture branches off right and downwards; at the second, the path to Vrh Korena branches off right and upwards, which we reach after one more minute of walking.
Kriška planina - Veliki Zvoh 1:25, Veliki Zvoh - Vrh Korena 1:15.

Discussion about the trip Kriška planina - Vrh Korena (via Zvoh)

Super summit, the view is excellent, the Alps like on the palm of your hand, the path via Planina Koren is incomparably more beautiful than via Zvoh. The section of the path along the ridge between Zvoh and Vrh is very nice, but the section via Smuchišče is all the more desperate.

Brane V.-Entering yesterday's hike, when I returned via Vrh Korena, Jež Ridge and Zvoh from the direction of Kalški Greben. The mountain itself is not particularly attractive, but it's a nice hike over Jež Ridge, the fixed cables are repaired, it would just be worth adding one short cable at the end of the descent at the cables.

today walked this path, nothing special, pleasant up through the scree, a bit more adrenaline from Zvoh towards Koren, but really missing that short cable at the gully before the ascent at the cables, it's very exposed and crumbly.

Nice walk along the ridge, spiced with the ascent through that gully.

ATTENTION! The second bolt, second wire from below is pulled out!

the path is fully m.b. [marked well], the chains have also been newly repaired. yesterday's views were fantastic...

I'm wondering if it's possible to get from Zvoh to Vrh Korena in the snow, over Jež? Or is the path too exposed through the gully...does the winter path even go through there?

On 29.1. my friend and I went from Vrh Korena through Ježe towards Zvoh. The only problem was in the gully where we dug out the braid with ice axes and made some steps. I think it's easier from Zvoh to Koren than the other way around. You can check the conditions from 29.1. in the current conditions.

Super trip, it can be extended further to Kompotela and continue the path down the valley towards planina Koren, then through Kriška planina to the parking lot (planina Jezerca).

Yesterday, 31.10.2015 on the path from V. Korena via Jež to V. Zvoh. I met three couples, four girls who were there for the first time on this path via Jež. Everyone knew there were fixed ropes there and had heard it's nothing special. But behind me walked a lady with a 5-year-old and a dog who needed help. I helped her by pushing the scared little dog so she grabbed it with one hand and carried it down the fixed ropes, then returned for her daughter. Although the lady first refused the offered help and only after my insistence admitted that the help was useful. So in the mountains let's be attentive to each other. And think how we could help that person if we see she's alone with a child and a dog. And don't think like "it's her own fault, she knew what she got into." nasmeh http://www.hribi.net/slika.asp?profil=6126

Today I went this path in the opposite direction and unfortunately lost my wrist compass. If anyone finds it, I'd be happy if they let me know at tcankar@gmail.com. Thanks! The path is completely dry and nice overall! Up to Zvoh of course, downhill on the ski slope a bit less:P

Has anyone been recently on this trail via Zvoh to Vrh Korena? Is there still snow?
capraibex2. 06. 2021 18:34:55
Full winter equipment required, conditions fully wintery, slipping hazard
Zdenkob21. 06. 2022 20:17:55
Is there still any snow on the path?
ana22. 06. 2022 14:30:48
