Kozjak nad Pesnico - Sveti Urban above Maribor

Access to starting point:
We drive to Spodnja Kungota, then we follow the road towards Zgornja Kungota. In the settlement Kozjak nad Pesnico we turn left towards Gaj and Urban and then we park at a suitable place. Best somewhere on the part where the road passes into the forest.

Route description:
From the main road Spodnja Kungota - Zgornja Kungota we head onto the road which leads towards Gaj nad Mariborom and sv. Urban. The path first leads across the flat section, along the edge of the forest we continue on the right wider road. 50 m ahead we go left, then we start ascending through the forest, soon the blazes direct us right onto a footpath which climbs to the ruins of Pahtejev grad, which we bypass on the left side. After the castle we gradually return to the asphalt road, along which we continue to the junction, where the path from Zgornja Kungota joins from the right.
When we return to the forest we leave the road again as the blazes direct us right, where we ascend more steeply for a while. A little further the path levels out and descends in a few steps to the road, which we reach at a small junction.
We continue along the marked road, which continues through the forest for a few more minutes; when we leave the forest we proceed along the panoramic ridge, where the path leads past a few houses. Further on, from the ridge we again move to the slope and arrive at a triangular junction in the middle of which there is a sign.
Here we go left (straight Gaj nad Mariborom) along the road, where the asphalt soon ends, then we ascend with nice views to the asphalt road, where we join the access road to Sv. Urban.
We continue left and enter the forest, where we cross the slopes. We soon arrive at a junction, where the road to the Hlade farm branches off to the right; we continue straight and soon leave the forest. There follows some ascent past individual houses, higher up we can already see the church of sv. Urban quite close. The path continues with nice views of the surroundings, and from the left a marked path from Maribor also joins (path past Brunček).
We continue straight, leaving the asphalt road at an unmarked junction, where the path leading to the summit of Sv. Urban branches off to the right.
There follows a short traverse ascent across the panoramic slope, then we reach another road, which we follow to the right. We walk along the road for another minute and arrive at the church of sv. Urban, from which a nice view opens towards Maribor and the surrounding hills.
