Access to starting point:
From the Velenje - Slovenj Gradec road at the settlement Zgornji Dolič, the road branches off to the right towards the village Vitanje (from the Slovenj Gradec side, left). We follow this road to the village Srednji Dolič, where signs for Kozjak direct us to the right uphill. We follow the road, which becomes macadam, to one of the parking lots beside the road.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road beside which we parked. Because the road has some intersections, we stick to the one that is more "main" and mostly ascends. In the last part of the ascent to Sveti Jošt, we can use some shortcuts that cut the road. From Jošt we continue in the direction of the Dom na Paškem Kozjaku on the other side of the mountain. We can go right downwards on a cart track or continue on the road, which also descends. In both cases the path is marked with signs Dom na Kozjaku so we cannot miss it. After a few minutes of descent, the paths join and only a few steps of walking on the road to the hut remain.

I set out on the trip on 14.4.2011 specifically from Zg. Doliča along the marked trail (Šaleška planinska pot, past the monument to the fallen fighters of the XIV. Division. To the monument the trail is super marked, then the markings disappear, so I got lost a few times myself, but I reached first Špik 1108 m and then Dom na Paškem Kozjaku after one hour and 50 minutes of walking.

Wonderful view towards Velenje and the lakes. Really beautiful corner of Slovenia.

We went to Basališče from Dom na Paškem Kozjaku. In the mountain hut we got the best coffee I've ever had in a mountain hut. And the service is top-notch. There were also homemade apples and pitchers of water on the table in front of the hut.
The path to Basališče was wet and slippery, so caution is not superfluous. The path with a short break on such terrain takes 2 hours. The markings are a bit misleading (1.5 hours).
Upon returning to the hut, we were again pleasantly surprised by the food, which was very tasty and at low prices.
I recommend visiting the hut and the hike to Basališče.
