Access to starting point:
We go to Croatia via the border crossing Rogatec / Hum na Sutli. From Hum na Sutli we continue in the direction of the settlements Pregrada and Zabok, and we drive only to the end of the village Kostel, where at the crossroads we will turn sharply right (the turn-off is poorly visible; at the crossroads there is a monument and a spring). Officially the path starts here, but because there are no appropriate spots for parking, we go upwards beside the chapel of the suffering Jesus all the way to the church of St. Mirko, where we park beside the cemetery.
Route description:
At the cemetery in the village Kostel we will notice signs for Kostelgrad, which direct us to a narrow road, along which we go upwards (orientation is easy, because Kostelgrad is visible from the starting point).
The road goes into the forest and after a few minutes of walking we arrive at a sharp left turn. This is followed by a few minutes of gentle ascent and we reach a junction below the castle, where a steep path, an unmarked path from the summit of Kuna Gora and the path from Pregrada join.
We continue ahead and after a few more minutes of walking we arrive at the foot of the ruins of Kostelgrad.
This is followed by the ascent to the castle, where stairs assist us.
Despite the relatively low elevation, the castle is a nice viewpoint.
