Access to starting point:a) Leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Lesce exit, then follow signs for Bled and Pokljuka. Continue through Gorje and past the Zatrnik ski slope to Rudno polje on Pokljuka, where there is a large paid parking lot, nearby also a military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight on the gravel road, which a bit further leads to a junction, where continue right (left Uskovnica). Follow this road to the former parking lot Za Ribnico, located at the end of the road (nearby are mountain signs for planina Konjščica).
Parking at the end of the road is now prohibited, so park at Rudno polje, which extends the route by about 40 minutes; more appropriately, choose the marked path that starts at Rudno polje.
b) From Železniki or Podbrd drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue towards Bled. Shortly after the Petrol gas station located just after Bohinjska Bistrica, turn left towards Pokljuka and Jereka. The road first climbs steeply, then gradually flattens after Koriti and leads to a junction at the bus stop, where continue right towards Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka (straight Srednja vas). Immediately after the junction we arrive in Jereka, but from the junction in front of the church continue straight towards Pokljuka (left Podjelje). After Jereka the road climbs steeply again, higher it flattens and continues along Mrzli potok. When joining the road from Bled, turn left and drive to Rudno polje, where there is a large paid parking lot, nearby military barracks and shooting range. From here continue straight on the gravel road, which a bit further leads to a junction, continue right (left Uskovnica). Follow this road to the former parking lot Za Ribnico at the end of the road (nearby mountain signs for planina Konjščica).
Parking at the end of the road is now prohibited, so park at Rudno polje, extending the route by about 40 minutes; better to choose the marked path starting at Rudno polje.
Traffic regime in the Pokljuka and Uskovnica area from 15.6. to 15.10.
Route description:
From the former parking lot at the end of the road continue along the wide and initially ascending cart track towards Planina Konjščica. The cart track, entering dense forest immediately, soon levels out and after a few minutes of easy walking turns into a footpath continuing along the left bank of the Ribnica stream. When the path approaches the stream completely it turns slightly right and ascends more steeply. Higher up the path levels out and leads us from the forest to the lower edge of the vast Planina Konjščica. Here the path turns slightly left, crosses the streamlet and after a few more steps brings us to the dairy at Planina Konjščica.

The trip can be extended to the following destinations: Planina pod Mišelj vrhom (3 h 15 min),
Velo polje (2 h 45 min),
Vodnikov dom (2 h 30 min),

On Sunday we wandered around Pokljuka and also checked out the new biathlon center. We noticed that the forest road leading to Uskovnica or to the mentioned parking lot under Konjščica is now closed - shooting area! You also have to go directly along the cross-country tracks if you want to take the footpath that goes past Planina Praprotnica to Uskovnica. Since the cross-country tracks are asphalted, I assume they will also run and shoot in the snow-free season? Does anyone have information on how access to Uskovnica or Konjščica will be in the future? Is there any possibility that the use of this road and footpath will still be possible?

This summer season the road was normally passable, probably it will be the same this year too, since there are no intensive trainings in the summer season. In winter time, however, the road has been closed every year, at least officially, because the track runs along the road and of course they don't plow it, especially not to the parking lot under Planina Konjščica.

When the road is cleared, it will be possible to drive towards Praprotnica and further. Just need to be a bit careful, because at the sports center you have to cross the roller skate track twice.

Today I unwittingly visited this alpine pasture. Returning to the car at Rudno polje, at the junction above the pasture I turned onto it unknowingly. Once realizing the mistake I continued to the pasture. At the hut they can cook you even žganci with cracklings, but no non-alcoholic drinks available. Return is tricky as nothing marked, no signs. To reach the trail to upper parking at Rudno polje, go uphill above the pasture and soon spot the pathlet. Where it joins the parking trail, the path to the pasture is extremely poorly marked. Something written on a rock, but no longer visible. For promoting Bohinj pastures more really needs doing.

I got the DAKAL ointment at the alpine pasture and it's a product of the cheesemaker or caretaker, on the product there is tel. 031 385 215, if I can help somehow!

As long as the cows are still grazing it's open.. ..But it's not a mountain hut, so no misunderstandings

I visited this alpine pasture, the path itself is easy and suitable also for the youngest. The staff is friendly. I will definitely return to this pasture.

On Saturday it was closed, the sign even says driving is deadly dangerous, but you can reach the parking without problems, even full parking lot. Apparently some forestry works are ongoing, because the road is all muddy and full of branches. During the week the road might be impassable.

This road is officially closed due to timber extraction since spring, but you can drive to the parking area by car even during the week. If they're loading timber during your visit, just wait a bit. I walked it, as it's not that far.

The hut is open until the end of summer, apparently it will also be open on weekends until late autumn.

The hut will be open on weekends in case of nice weather until the water freezes, at least that's what the caretaker said.
