Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further to Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where you reach a junction; continue straight on the left (southern) side of the lake towards Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. Follow this increasingly narrow road to the large car park at Koča pri Savici. The car park is paid.
Route description:
From the car park, head onto the wide hiking trail towards Slap Savica and Dom na Komni (right path via Komarča). After a short gentle ascent, the path leads to a marked junction where the tourist path to Slap Savica branches off to the right.
Continue on the right path towards Slap Savica, which leads across a stone bridge. On the other side of the bridge, the ascent begins mostly on steps.
The well-maintained and paid path is secured with railings in some sections and after about 20 minutes of walking brings us to a shelter from which a nice view of the waterfall opens up.

For paid natural assets, free access is introduced every first Sunday of the month or during operating hours, thereby enabling visitation of natural assets to all citizens regardless of their social status.

Discussion about the trip Koča pri Savici - Savica waterfall

Are they already charging an entrance fee?zavijanje z oemi
Tadej21. 02. 2007
Last week they weren't and I think they won't for some time yet. There's little water in the waterfall though.
Gost21. 02. 2007
They weren't there yesterday either.
Gost26. 02. 2007
entrance fee starts to be collected when the snow melts (usually around Easter)
Gost17. 06. 2007
I recommend visiting these days, there's really a lot of water!
Žan14. 11. 2008
Do they still charge entrance fee?
Klin14. 11. 2008
In winter they don't charge entrance fee.
Žan17. 11. 2008
On Sunday 16.11.2008 they were still diligently collecting entrance fees, but fortunately no parking fees anymore. Entrance for adults is 2.40€, children free.
There was just the right amount of water in the waterfall so that it looked like on the prospectus. The last meters of the path are locked with iron gates, so you can't get right to the water.
It would be nice if someone added a description of the new path to the waterfall (without stopping at the customs).
Tadej17. 11. 2008
The path to the waterfall that bypasses the entrance fee collection point has been closed due to a fire a few years ago and the resulting danger of falling rocks.
Klin18. 11. 2008
I apologize for the misinformation. It seems that anything is possible in Bohinj.

For those for whom the walk from the parking lot to the waterfall is too short, here is a description of a longer path around Lake Bohinj, part of which is the ascent to the waterfall along the tourist path.

darh, it really is a nice trip. I went alone too, but I went to see the waterfall at the viewpoint on the way to Komarča.
VanSims5. 06. 2011
I would ask how safe the path to Slap Savica is, which branches off from the path to Komarča, because I also plan to go there in the near future. They say it's very dangerous. Is this the one Tadej mentions (fire, falling rocks)?

Thanks for the answer!

How safe the one from Komarča is, I don't know, I know that the path Tadej talks about branched off from the path to Komna and has been closed for some time, and the signs that once directed to that path are no longer there.

Best regards B

Two years ago, when I last went through Komarča, the signs were still there. True, at that time I didn't go to the viewpoint. But how it is now, I don't know.

Hey.
Has anyone walked to the waterfall recently? Maybe I'll go up today.
Thanks for info.
Holcar214. 03. 2013
How much snow is there or will fall in Bohinj?
Holcar214. 03. 2013
Is it wind crust or powder?zmeden
