Access to starting point:
We leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Hrušica exit and follow the road ahead in the direction of Kranjska Gora. Just a little before the village of Dovje, the road to Mojstrana (Vrata, Kot and Krma) branches off to the left from the main road. We follow the road ahead in the direction of the Vrata Valley and drive along it to the parking lot near the hut at the Peričnik waterfall.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we head onto the footpath, which directs us upwards along the right bank of the Peričnik (left side). The path steeply ascends through the forest and after approximately 10 minutes of walking brings us to the vantage point of the lower Peričnik.

Discussion about the trip Koča pri Peričniku - Lower Peričnik waterfall

I've been from Mojstrana to Vrata countless times, but I stopped at the waterfall on Sunday for the first time. The waterfall is worth seeing, I recommend visiting the upper one too. I was pleasantly surprised when I could go behind the waterfall, and that at both.

On New Year's Eve I viewed the illuminated waterfall - a fairy-tale scene! Thanks to whoever arranged it!

Can someone tell me if the waterfall is illuminated this year too? And if yes: from what time to what time? Thank you very much.nasmeh

Hello!
The waterfall is illuminated this year too, I think from around six o'clock. It's wonderful!!!

Really worth seeing!

Maybe someone has recently been at the waterfall, I'm interested if it's frozen, because I heard that when it's frozen it's very nice to see and if you can get to it, because we plan to go see it with kids on Saturday. Thanks in advance.
pmonci10. 02. 2010
The waterfall is completely frozen (it was like that a week ago), the road is well cleared, but closed to private vehicles. The walk there is very pleasant.
petruša10. 02. 2010
Thank you very much, but where is the best place to leave the car and how far is it on foot. thanks
Oknaj10. 02. 2010
Due to bad weather during Christmas holidays the waterfall was not illuminated but it was from 1.1.-3.1.2010. The waterfall is completely frozen, worth seeing during the day. Leave the vehicle at the parking lot before the closed road sign. Nice walk, also possible with sleds 35 minutes! Good luck!

is it climbable? velik nasmeh
petruša18. 02. 2010
We have no experience with this, so I can't tell you. Water flows in the middle of the waterfall, so it's not fully frozen; only in the middle it flows, the rest is icy. You'll have to assess it yourselves or have someone knowledgeable reply. Best regards.
JusAvgustin18. 02. 2010
Thanks for the reply, I already got it elsewhere. It's not climbable. Just as info, Peričnik was climbed among others by Tomaž Humar too. It's a nice sight how nature plays with water and turns it into majestic icicles.nasmeh

Hello, I'm interested if anyone has walked around the waterfall at this time. I'm wondering if it's icy, due to this year's poor winter. Thanks in advance.
JusAvgustin25. 02. 2011
LP! Does anyone know how far the road is drivable into Vrata, to Peričnik or less?
POLJANC26. 02. 2011
ROAD IS CLOSED. TO PERIČNIK IS STILL A GOOD HALF-HOUR WALK. LP.
JusAvgustin26. 02. 2011
The road is drivable to Peričnik and even a couple of km further. I was there today and saw that parking disgrace in Vrata valley.
Otherwise POLJANC nasmeh thanks for the info...mežikanje

This is what Peričnik waterfall looked like on 17.2.1929
(the picture is the front page of Ilustrirani Slovenec).
kraljevic28. 12. 2011
Does anyone know if the waterfall will be illuminated this year too?
tevzz17. 09. 2014
Does anyone know who is responsible for maintaining the path to Peričnik?

This year after the ice storm it apparently damaged the little bridge right before the waterfall and blocks access. They nailed planks and a prohibition sign. I understand that the ice did a lot of damage everywhere and there is work up to the neck, but this little bridge still wasn't repaired by the end of summer. One would think that such an attraction in the heart of TNP is worth fixing (in exemplary time).

The closest is to ask at PD Dovje - Mojstrana, Savska cesta 1, 4281 Mojstrana or pd.dovje-mojstrana@siol.net 04 589 51 00 or 031 384 011. Option is also the Alpine Museum in Mojstrana or directly the TNP administration in Bled...
smolko17. 09. 2014
First go take a look then criticize. Under the waterfall there is already a new bridge.
mpogac8. 04. 2018
hi. i'm curious what the trail from Mojstrana to the lower waterfall is like. snow, etc. so we know how to put on shoes and dress ... nasmeh thanks.

The nearest path from Koča pri Peričniku to the waterfall is closed for visitors' safety. However, there is a sign showing where around you can reach the waterfall. For this path, you need to allow quite a bit more time, as per the drawn path on the sign. I didn't ask the friendly hut warden about the path to the waterfall. There is a pleasant walking path from Mojstrana, where you can park at the parking lot in front of the kindergarten (when it's not a working day) or in front of the mountaineering museum. A little higher, where the parking lot is before turning left over the bridge (behind the last houses towards Peričnik), there are very few free spots because there are logs loaded on the parking lot. I don't know if for storage or for transport down the valley. The path is pleasant and takes 50 minutes from Mojstrana to Koča pri Peričniku. Especially at this time when everything is greening and the green color of trees and grass is beautiful. Suitable path also for younger future hikers or just visitors to the beauties of our Slovenia. Yes, I have only one remark for the drivers who drive past the hut and the tables by the hut as if on a highway. Would they miss something if they drove slowly past the hut so that the dust from the road doesn't settle into glasses with poured drinks or food on the table. Because there is really so little space around the hut that you can't set up tables and benches a little further from the hut. However, one must realize that we are in Triglav National Park and you can't just set up anywhere in nature as you please. Well, some people have an attitude towards nature and fellow people moving in nature. Therefore, car drivers could consider this when driving to Vrata and returning from Vrata.

To Peričnik a bit differently. By bus to Dovje and return from Mojstrana. The road is closed, icy and not gritted. But it's drivable to the hut. There are some parking spots at the hut. Further to Vrata is not plowed. The upper waterfall is closed, no circular path. Even access to the waterfall itself is closed. nasmeh No lacy curtains yet, but the waterfall is quite watery and the pool is wonderful.nasmeh
