Access to starting point:
On the Amlapura - Tulamben road on the island of Bali in Indonesia, take the turn to Ngis, 2 km away, and then another 2 km to Kemudi.

Route description:
At Kemuda do the formalities, receive a sarong if you do not wear long pants and head to the stairs. The first temple is just a minute or two away. The stairs continue at the left side of the temple. Soon afterwards the stairs end as you step on a paved road. After some 20 minutes you reach another temple (Penataran Agung), where the stairs start again. From there on it is 90 minutes of walk straight up while following the signs for Luhur temple. The locals retaliated severely against the monkeys after they became very troublesome and dangerous in 2012-2015. Now, the monkeys seem quite timid.
