Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Maribor, we take the Trojane exit, and then we continue driving on the parallel old road towards Vransko. After approximately 1 km of driving from the spot when we got on the old road, or more precisely just before the road goes below the highway, the road branches off to the right towards the nearby hamlet Zlokarje (by the crossroad there is a bus stop and a red mountain signpost with the inscription Čemšeniška planina and Limovce). We park at an appropriate place along the side road.
Route description:
From the starting point, we continue on the road by which we have parked, and it quickly brings us to the hamlet Zlokarje, where at the houses we turn right on a cart track. The cart track at first leads through a panoramic grassy meadow, and then turns slightly to the right and passes into a dense forest. After a few minutes of ascent through the forest, we join a bad road which at first along the edge of the forest and then through a meadow brings us to the nearby asphalt road. We follow the mentioned road to the left, and past the chapel it brings us to the village Limovce, where on one of the residential houses we notice an inscription box with an inscription book and a stamp.
From here in a gentle ascent, we continue past a few more houses, and then the road for some time descends a little. Next follows a few minutes of a diagonal ascent on panoramic slopes, and then we get to a smaller crossroad, where we continue right, but we follow the main road only 10 meters and then at the cross we turn left in the direction of Čemšeniška planina. We continue the ascent on a somewhat narrower road which at the last house changes into a cart track, and then it leads us through a panoramic meadow. On the other side of the meadow, we step onto the marked crossing at Ovčjih jamah.
From the crossroad, we continue on the road towards the east (direction Čemšeniška planina) and we walk along it to the edge of the forest, and from there on a marked footpath which soon crosses a bad forest road. Further, we ascend for some time through the forest and then we reach the macadam road which leads towards Prvine. We follow it to the left, whereupon after a few minutes we notice signs for Čemšeniška planina, which point us sharply right on a gently sloping cart track. After a few meters, the cart track splits into two parts, and we choose the upper left cart track, and higher it changes into a somewhat steeper mountain path for a while. Higher, we return to the road, and we walk along it to the parking lot at Prvine.
Here on the left side we bypass the nearby hotel D, and the road brings us to the ski slope of the ski center Prvine, from where a beautiful view opens up. Here we leave the road and we continue the ascent slightly right, on a cart track which ascends diagonally across the ski slope, and then passes into the forest, where it gradually changes into a wide path. Next follows a few minutes of moderate ascent through the forest and then we reach a wide cart track, on which in a few steps of additional walking we get to a marked crossing.
Here we continue straight (sharply right and downwards Izlake, Čemšenik, Kisovec...) on the path which gradually passes along the edge of steep grassy slopes. We continue the ascent along the edge of panoramic slopes, from which a nice view opens up on surrounding places and nearby hills. Higher, the path flattens and passes onto steep slopes, over which in a few minutes we walk to the Koča na Čemšeniški planini.

Along the route: Zlokarje (535m), Limovce (675m), Prvine (870m)

Discussion about the trip Jelševica - Koča na Čemšeniški planini

Nicely described and illustrated with photos discussion about the trip to Čemšeniška planina, I would just add something that we locals have experienced several times regarding the dissatisfaction of planina visitors, that at Ovečjih jamah (photo no.33) they turn left by car into the village ZAPLANINA instead of right towards Prvine, it would be necessary to put additional signs, likewise in the village Dobrljevo at the bus stop. Nice regards and good luck!
