Javorje - Stari vrh (via Prehodi)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Poljane nad Škofjo Loko, from where, from the traffic light intersection, we continue in the direction of the settlement Javorje. When Poljane ends, the road leads us through Volča, and after the mentioned settlement, the road starts to ascend more steeply. Higher, we go also through Dolenčice, and then we already arrive in Javorje, where we park on the parking lot near the branch primary school Javorje.

Route description:
From the parking lot, in front of which we find some basic information about the meteorite Javorje (meteorite Javorje is the 3rd found meteorite on the territory of Slovenia), we continue past the primary school, and behind the school signs point us to the left. Next follows an ascent on asphalt footpath, and a little higher we return on an asphalt road which we follow to the left. On the road, from which beautiful views open up, we quickly get to a marked crossroad from which we continue right in the direction of Škofja Loka, Stari vrh and sv. Brikcija (left Blegoš, Žetina and church of the Assumption of Mary).
Some 10 meters further, the road once again splits, and we continue sharply left (straight Četena Ravan and Koča na Starem vrhu). The path ahead ascends past few houses, and behind them the asphalt ends and we at first continue on a macadam road, later on a cart track. At the crossings, we follow the yellow-green blazes, and the path leads us for a few minutes through the forest. When the forest ends, we reach a smaller hamlet, and we continue right in the direction towards Podvrh. Next follows a shorter ascent, and then a wide cart track flattens and with nice views on Mladi and Stari vrh we reach the village Podvrh, where we go left, at the recycling spot once again left, this time in the direction of Mladi and Stari vrh. A short time we still continue on the road, and then at the traffic sign, that prohibits further driving, we continue slightly right on a footpath which ascends through the forest and by which we notice few older blazes. We soon cross a macadam road, and then we continue on a steep cart track which is ascending through the forest. Higher, at the crossing of cart tracks we continue right and we start ascending diagonally towards the saddle Prehodi, which we reach after few minutes of additional walking.
On Prehodi there is a marked crossing, from which we continue slightly right towards Stari vrh (sharply left Mladi vrh, right hunting path). Next follows a steep ascent to the vantage point, where there are bench, table and logbook box.
From the vantage point, from which a nice view opens up on part of Polhograjsko and Škofjeloško hribovje, the path returns into the forest, and we continue there to the highest point of Stari vrh.
