Access to starting point:
We drive to Slovenj Gradec, from where we continue towards the settlement Legen and the ski resort Kope. We further follow the signs for Kope, while we follow the ascending road to a larger parking lot at the ski resort Kope.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we walk past Grmovškov dom under Velika Kopa and past other tourist and catering facilities to the saddle Pungart, from where we continue right in the direction of Črni vrh and Ribniška koča (left Velika Kopa and Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom). At first, we ascend along a shorter ski lift, then we continue the path on a poorer macadam road, which brings us in a few minutes to a fenced area, where we continue along the wooden fence. A little higher, the road passes to the inner side of the fence, but we continue left along the fence, where the mountain path continues. A little higher, we return to the road, which has meanwhile become a wider cart track, and we still ascend along the fence for some time, then the path flattens and leaves the fenced area. On the flat section, the path towards Mislinja branches off to the right, and we continue straight and gradually start to ascend moderately again. A little higher from the junction we continue slightly left (straight Črni vrh) and through the meadow we enter the forest, where we cross the slopes of Črni vrh. After a shorter crossing, a few minutes longer path also joins us from the right, which leads over Črni vrh, and we continue straight and gradually start to descend. On a smaller saddle, the path from Mislinja also joins from the right, and we follow the blazes and signs for Ribniška koča and gradually start to ascend easily. Higher, we bypass a fenced private cottage on the right side, behind it we arrive at the accumulation lake on Mali Črni vrh, from where a beautiful view opens up.
From Mali Črni vrh we continue slightly left from the poor road onto a marked path, along which we quickly descend to Ribniška koča.
Starting point - Mali Črni vrh 1:35, Mali Črni vrh - Ribniška koča 0:05.
Description and pictures refer to the situation in October 2022.

7.8. was at Ribniška koča, great thing, everything around is full of blueberries, also in the hut everything is blueberry-style (pie, strudel, pancakes with blueberries and blueberry liqueur, the one with -OH group ), really nice

We went with the family on Sunday from Grmovškov dom to Ribniška koča past Črni vrh. Closed and dilapidated Grmovškov dom; shame for the mountaineering association, Ribniška koča also closed because something is being renovated. Praise goes to the new hut below Grmovškov dom; I think it’s Lukov dom, really praiseworthy, well-maintained and friendly staff too. We walked the path itself a bit earlier. In summer I believe it’s a much nicer hike.

It was really high time they closed Grmovškov dom, as it was a total disaster with unfriendly staff to the max . All praise to Lukov dom

The stamp is still at Lukov dom . Nice tour towards Črni vrh, Ribniška koča, Ribniški vrh, Ribniško jezero, back and also to Velka Kopa summit. Easy and friendly path, which is still snowy in some parts. Sinks up to the knees. This applies to the section towards the lakes. Snow on the ski slope is south-facing, but still some skiers were seen. Yes, and it was quite windy.

On the PZS website I read that Ribniška koča is closed until December 12. Since I'm not nearby, I send a message asking if the hut will be open this weekend. I get a reply that the hut will be closed this weekend. So what is written on the PZS site can be interpreted in only two ways... misleading or just incomplete... closed until December 12, but the year is missing... For everyone who planned to visit the hut this weekend! p.s. is the stamp still at Lukov dom?

The stamp from Ribniška can only be obtained at the hut, but they are willing to send it by mail, commendable!

Tomorrow, on 06.12.2017, my friend and I intend to do the hike Grmovškov dom - Ribniška koča, and I'm interested: - whether Grmovškov dom is open or if they demolished it as written in previous comments, which are very old date-wise, and - whether the mentioned path is marked with mountain trail markers. Thanks in advance to everyone for replies and safe steps.

On 2.1.2020 I hiked the mentioned trail. Grmovškov dom and Ribniška koča were open - per caretakers, open Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Trail trodden in snow but plenty of markings, so go ahead.

Hello. I'm interested if the hut is open at this time. And this year. Safe travels.

It was open on Saturday. Probably no problem on weekends. It's nicely renovated...
