Glavaš - Planinsko zavetišče Drago Grubać

Access to starting point:
a) Leave the A1 motorway at the Sveti Rok exit. Continue towards Gračac. In Gračac, turn left and then right at the roundabout. Drive past the turn-off for Cerovačke špilje. Continue to Knin, then follow signs for Kijevo. Upon arriving in Kijevo, watch for a left turn. The nearby church on a small hill is the landmark, and signs for Cetina spring, Glavaš and Uništo help. The narrow road leads to the next intersection, where we continue left towards Glavaš (straight to Cetina spring). Drive for a while along the narrow asphalt road until reaching the intersection before Glavaš. Continue slightly left, as directed by the markings. Park somewhere in the village, best in front of the building with accommodations.
b) Leave the A1 motorway at the Pirovac exit and continue towards Knin. In Knin center, follow signs for Kijevo. Upon arriving in Kijevo, watch for a left turn. The nearby church on a small hill is the landmark, and signs for Cetina spring, Glavaš and Uništo help. The narrow road leads to the next intersection, where we continue slightly left towards Glavaš (straight to Cetina spring). Drive for a while along the narrow asphalt road until reaching the intersection before Glavaš. Continue slightly left, as directed by the markings. Park somewhere in the village, best in front of the building with accommodations.

Route description:
From the starting point continue along the road past the last houses and in five minutes we are at the closed Glavaš shelter. We recognize it by the blue container. Just before it, a path branches off to the left. Continue on this path and after 10 minutes of somewhat steeper ascent we reach the Glavaš fortress. The path then enters a belt of low shrubbery, then into the forest. After a while we emerge from the forest onto a more rocky path where we walk on rocks. Soon we arrive above the valley which we cross along the slope. The path ascends steadily. From the left an unmarked path from the valley joins unobtrusively (especially on descent watch not to turn onto this path, otherwise it leads directly to the starting point but the path is very overgrown). After about an hour and a half of walking we reach Gornji bunar spring at 1000m altitude. Walk another 5 minutes on switchbacks to the junction. Continue left towards "sklonište Drago Grubać" (straight to Martinova Košara shelter). The path further crosses grassy rocky slopes then the forest ends definitively and we walk through meadows with beautiful views of Peručko jezero and South Velebit. The path begins to ascend somewhat more steeply then levels out considerably and after 45 minutes of walking we reach a junction. A path from Bili cvitak bivouac joins. Continue along the grassy ridge. The path also leads over some rocky sections but nothing technically demanding. Helpful are the poles marking the path. The ridge widens later. The path leads past the indistinct peak Ošljak (1589 m). Soon after it we reach a small valley from which we ascend to a small saddle where behind it a small clearing with bivouac awaits us. We have a few more meters to walk there. Here the Dinaridi via ferrata joins. The bivouac is very nicely arranged.
