Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Koper, take the exit Razdrto and continue driving on the old road through Razdrto towards Vipava valley. After a few kilometers of descent on a fairly winding road, we will arrive at a crossroads, where the road towards Nanos branches off to the right. Turn onto the mentioned road, which starts to ascend more steeply. When higher up the road flattens and swings from the steep slope onto the plateau, we will arrive at a crossroads, where we continue left in the direction of Abram. In all subsequent crossroads, follow the road towards Furlanovo zavetišče pri Abramu. Park on the large parking lot by the nearby hunting lodge.
B) From the expressway Nova Gorica - Razdrto, take the exit Vipava and follow the road ahead towards Podnanos. From Podnanos continue driving on the old road towards Razdrto. Soon we come to a crossroads, where the road towards Nanos branches off sharply to the left.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road in the direction of Vojkova koča and Podnanos. The gentle road quickly brings us to a smaller hamlet, where we continue on the upper left road. The road ahead leads along the edge of the forest, from where a beautiful view of the Dolomites opens up. A little further ahead, the road enters a dense forest and brings us to the next crossroads, where we continue straight. Through the forest we walk a few more minutes, then the road brings us to increasingly panoramic slopes. Here we will notice signs for Vojkova koča, which direct us left onto a marked but partly somewhat overgrown footpath. After the initial ascent, the path quickly flattens and brings us to plateau-like terrain. Somewhat further, we cross a short strip of shrubbery, and the path then continues for some time across vast and partly overgrown karst meadows. A short ascent follows, and the path brings us to the next road, which we follow right downhill. After a short descent, we leave the road again and continue the ascent left onto a marked cart track, along which we first ascend relatively steeply, then gently. Further on, we ascend along the edge of the indistinct valley Ječmenovec; higher up the path enters the forest, through which it climbs to an unvegetated saddle northwest of Laniški vrh (1236 m).
From the saddle, a descent follows to the nearby road, which leads to Vojkova koča; we merely cross it and continue on the marked hiking path. The path soon turns slightly left and higher up returns to the mentioned road. On the moderately steep path, from which some views occasionally open up, it then continues alternately through the forest and partly on the macadam road. We follow this path all the way to Vojkova koča na Nanosu.

Discussion about the trip Furlanovo zavetišče pri Abramu - Vojkova koča na Nanosu

On Saturday 14.1.2012 we walked the path from Furlanovo zavetišče at Abram to Vojkova koča. I must mention that the path is excellently marked and there is no chance of getting lost. At Vojkova koča we tried a great strudel and then headed back along the ridge past Hieronimova cerkev and then climbed a bit higher again back to the path towards Abram. Let me mention that we were accompanied all day by nice sunny weather with little or almost no wind . In short, a beautiful Saturday with good company and excellent dumplings at Abram. Warmly recommended.

The path from Furlanovo zavetišče pri Abramu to Vojkova koča na Nanosu is one of the nicer ones in this area. Wonderful views, nicely routed path, and at the end excellent food awaits you in Vojkova koča.

Today, a hunting dog of the German shorthair breed got lost under Vojkova koča. If anyone meets or sees it, it has the owner's number under the collar (Petra, 040 370 828). Thanks to everyone!

Marko, I'm wondering if you found the dog. Best regards.

We walked this trail, unfortunately it was very cold at the top, 13 degrees + wind. The trail is wonderful, views divine... we ate at Abram's because there was such a crowd at Vojk's hut that we couldn't even get to the counter. Wonderful day spent.

End of May we were at Nanos. The hut keeper was very unfriendly. In the hut we asked if they had another stamp, as the one attached to the hut is not the "real" stamp from the traverse. The keeper replied quite rudely "the one you like to steal so much?!" and literally yelled at us (for an unknown reason) in front of the other guests. After she gave us a series of comments on how we would ruin the stamp if we stamped the booklet ourselves, how hikers steal stamps, and if we realize it costs the keeper 30 euros, she finally stamped our booklets. We have conquered quite a few mountains, but we have never experienced such behavior... I think hikers don't deserve such treatment either. We don't deserve generalizations that all hikers ruin everything and steal everything. We would rather give everything away than intentionally harm anyone. If we entered the hut friendly and in good spirits, we ended up with a somewhat bitter day.

I'm curious about the road that climbs from the Razdrto - Podnanos road up the slope of Nanos to the plateau. Is it asphalted or gravel, and if otherwise, how damaged is it?

Asphalt up to the edge of the plateau and a bit further...

Thanks for the info. I hope the weather holds up enough on Saturday for us to go on this trip.

Does Furlanovo zavetišče where the stamp is supposed to be count at the guesthouse or where?

At the tourist farm near Abram, a regular stop for hikers to Nanos, for over twenty years they have been holding a bear in captivity. Given that the daily "range" of bears is much wider than what the mentioned few-meter cage allows this animal, it would have been expected long ago for a more energetic response from visitors to this farm to this deliberate restriction of movement and simultaneous suppression of the natural instincts of this bear, which they named - Mitko.. But since apparently the vast majority of visitors turn a blind eye to this obvious violence against the animal, I urge all of you - nature and animal lovers - to speak out against keeping wild animals in private captivity and the consequent unnecessary psychological and physical restriction that comes with this imprisonment. If our community already approves keeping bears in cages - ZOO Ljubljana - let it be in appropriately large spaces for them (which of course will never be comparable to natural ones) and not in a mere 10 square meter small cage like at Abram and some other captive bears in Slovenia. We can influence such obvious violations of animal rights, can't we? As far as I know, that same bear would have died if they hadn't taken it into care 20 years ago.

djmuzl, what would you specifically suggest be done with this bear?

| VanSims4. 11. 2019 |
@karibu: Sure. As far as I know the mother rejected him. That happens in nature. It would still be better than letting the poor thing suffer now. If they released him now he would die anyway because he is not used to life in the wild.

Where exactly is the stamp on Nanos at Abram? There is no stamp at the inn, nor a logbook box - at least in a visible place.
|
|
|
|
| Kleemen29. 03. 2020 |
The inn is closed. Shouldn't it be in a visible place when the inn/hut is closed?

No, because there are no hikers, because everyone is in quarantine as well as those who work in the hut. Regards

There is no quarantine yet. Only hiking in the high mountains and climbing is prohibited, you can still go alone or with family members to the other small hills.

It's not prohibited. Just discouraged.

Something like that. But I'm still without the stamp, even though I was at the hut and I'm doing the traverse.

For SPP, a photo counts if you've taken it. Otherwise, these problems are common where huts don't operate 365 days a year, and you can't get the stamp outside the hut. If you're going for stamps, it's good to inquire beforehand. I always get the right info here

|
| Kleemen30. 03. 2020 |
I know, but I'm collecting stamps for myself and I'd like to have them all in the booklet, not to get the SPP badge. No problem, I'll go again, but it's not right that the traverse stamp isn't in a visible place in front of the hut.

A huge number of SPP stamps are in the huts, so you have to wait for the season, or weekends when they are open. In the current situation, the question is until when.
