Access to starting point:
From Tolmin or Bovec we drive to Kobarid, from there we follow the road in the direction of Drežnica (the turn-off of the road is from the Kobarid bypass). We continue across the bridge over the river Soča and immediately after the bridge we turn left in the direction of Drežnica. We then follow this mostly ascending road to the center of Drežnica, where we turn right and drive on to the primary school, which is the starting point of our path.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we go past the chapel and primary school on a marked path to Krn. Further, the path leads us through the forest and then by the pasture to the signpost Triglav National Park. Here also the path on the road joins (road from Drežnica) and we continue on a marked path, which a little higher crosses the stream Ročica, and then we get to a marked crossing, where we continue left in the direction of bivouac and very difficult path on Krn (right easier path on Krn).
The path ahead passes into a dense forest, through which it is moderately ascending by the stream Ročica. Further, the path turns a little to the right and takes us to Bivak na Črniku.

Discussion about the trip Drežnica - Bivak na Črniku

On Friday 28.5. my colleague and I slept in the bivouac and it was quite scary. Full of mice scratching all night and fleas that deprive you of sleep with constant itching. Normally early morning is the golden hour, but this time it was more forced.. I suggest you shake the blankets (quilts) well and put food scraps outside somewhere, a bit away from the bivouac.. It was free though

Sleep yeah, I doubt you two slept much. Better say you went to that bivouac to roll between the sheets, otherwise I see no reason why anyone would overnight in a bivouac at 1160 meters, less than 2 hours from Drežnica....

If the forecast is bad for the next afternoon, you have to sleep somewhere higher up to be early at the wall. And it turned out after 6 hours of hiking to Krn and back to be the only right choice, as it poured like from a bucket half an hour later. I've already slept in the bivouac (5 years ago) and it was completely OK. But if you think it's a pleasure to roll between sheets (which, by the way, there aren't any) with mice 1 meter away and fleas doing somersaults on your head...
