Dom na Osankarici - Posestvo Šumik (via pohorski bataljon)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Maribor, we head to the exit Slovenske Konjice, then follow the road to the mentioned settlement. In Slovenske Konjice, we turn right towards Oplotnica, to which a few kilometers of winding road separate us. In Oplotnica, where we join the road from Slovenska Bistrica, we continue left in the direction of Osankarica. Further, for some time we ascend along the stream Oplotnica, then we arrive at a crossroad where the road splits into two parts. Here we can continue left in the direction of Osankarica, or right in the direction of the village Kebelj. If we continue on the left road, which soon changes into macadam, higher it brings us to a somewhat larger crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Osankarica (left Rogla). From the crossroad a few hairpin turns follow and the macadam road brings us to the parking lot below the mountain hut Dom na Osankarici (from the fork of the roads to the starting point there is approximately 9 km). If we continue on the right road, we can get to Dom na Osankarici on a slightly longer but all the time asphalted road. All crossroads are well marked.
B) From the highway Maribor - Ljubljana, we head to the exit Slovenska Bistrica - Jug, then continue driving towards Oplotnica. In Oplotnica, where we notice signs for Osankarica, we continue straight, then for some time we ascend along the stream Oplotnica, where after a shorter ascent we arrive at the spot where the road splits into two parts. Here we can continue left in the direction of Osankarica, or right in the direction of the village Kebelj. If we continue on the left road, which soon changes into macadam, higher it brings us to a somewhat larger crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Osankarica (left Rogla). From the crossroad a few hairpin turns follow and the macadam road brings us to the parking lot below the mountain hut Dom na Osankarici (from the fork of the roads to the starting point there is approximately 9 km). If we continue on the right road, we can get to Dom na Osankarici on a slightly longer but all the time asphalted road. All crossroads are well marked.
C) We drive to Ruše (to here from Maribor or Selnica ob Dravi), then continue driving towards Smolnik and higher Šumik. At the crossroad, where the road towards Koča na Šumiku branches off to the right, we continue straight. There follows a sharp left turn near which is the starting point of the path to the waterfall Šumik, we a little further arrive at the next crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Osankarica. There follow a few kilometers of macadam road and we arrive at the parking lot below the mountain hut Dom na Osankarici.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we first walk to the mountain hut Dom na Osankarici, where we notice signs for the Pohorski battalion camp. We head onto this path, which in a moderate ascent through the forest after approximately half an hour of walking brings us to the Pohorski battalion camp. Further, we continue on the path, which starts to descend and soon brings us to a path junction, where we continue right in the direction towards Šumik. After a further short descent, the path brings us to a forest road, which we follow to the left. After approximately 15 minutes of gentle ascent along the road, the signs direct us right onto a footpath, which soon brings us out of the forest onto a larger clearing, where we notice the forest cottage Obrolovo.
Behind the cottage the path goes back into the forest, where it mostly descends slightly along a path that is poorly visible in places, but because the blazes are frequent enough there are no major orientation problems. The path then brings us after some time to a poorer road, which descends to a crossroad, where we continue right. We follow this road, which has some smaller crossroads, to the mountain hut Koča na Šumiku.
