Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana–Jesenice highway, take the Vodice exit, then continue driving to the first traffic-light junction in Vodice, where continue left towards Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Brnik. When you arrive at the main roundabout in Spodnji Brnik, continue driving towards Cerklje and the Krvavec ski resort. At the end of the settlement Cerklje na Gorenjskem, leave the main road, which continues towards Velesovo and Visoko, and continue slightly right onto the road towards the Krvavec ski resort. Park at the large well-maintained parking lot by the lower station of the Krvavec circular-gondola cableway, where you buy a ticket and take the aforementioned cableway to the upper station, located next to the Dom na Gospincu mountain hut.
B) From the Jesenice–Ljubljana highway, take the Kranj–East exit, then continue driving towards Brnik, Komenda and Mengeš. C) From the Ljubljana–Jesenice highway, take the Vodice exit, then continue driving to the first traffic-light junction in Vodice, where continue left towards Cerklje na Gorenjskem and Brnik. Further on, arrive at the village of Grad, where signs for the Ambrož pod Krvavcem settlement direct you right onto a steep asphalt road (straight to the lower station of the Krvavec circular-gondola cableway and Štefanja Gora). When the gradient on the steep road eases somewhat, you reach a junction, where continue left towards the Ambrož pod Krvavcem settlement (straight to the settlements Ravne, Apno and Šenturška Gora). A little further, the road temporarily descends a little, then ascends through occasionally quite panoramic slopes. Higher up, arrive at Ambrož pod Krvavcem, where you bypass the church of St. Ambrož and the Pr Ambružarju tourist farm on the left side. From the tourist farm onwards, the road enters the forest and ascends through it all the way to the Jezerca mountain pasture, where there is a large well-maintained parking lot. Here the road flattens and turns left; about 500 m further, it brings you to a junction, where continue slightly left (right Kriška planina). Then drive on the macadam road for some time, i.e., to the upper station of the circular-gondola cableway.
The road from the Jezerca mountain pasture to the Dom na Gospincu is now closed to public traffic; this extends the approach by approximately 30 minutes.

Route description:
At the upper station of the Krvavec circular-gondola cableway, we will notice numerous hiking signposts. Head towards the Dom na Krvavcu mountain hut and Marija Snežna on a poorly visible path that climbs up the grassy slope almost straight upwards. The poorly visible path leads higher across a pasture fence, after which it becomes somewhat more traceable. A relatively steep path then takes us to the Dom na Krvavcu mountain hut, which is visible already from the upper cableway station (alternatively possible here via a poorer macadam road).
From the hut, continue towards Zvoh on the road past the chapel and transmitters on Krvavec to the Razor saddle (saddle between Krvavec peak and Veliki Zvoh), where there is a road junction. Continue straight along the ridge (right to Krvavec peak, 5 minutes) to the next junction, where signs for Dolga njiva direct left (straight to Veliki Zvoh). The path to Dolga njiva then crosses a ski run and brings us to a slope partly overgrown with dwarf pines. The traversing path, after some time, leaves the Krvavec ski area via a wire fence. Further on, the path begins descending first through dwarf pines, then diagonally across some smaller and partly overgrown scree slopes. The path then stops descending, and from the left, the path from Kokra (via Lojtra) joins. A few more steps of walking follow, and the path brings us to the old shepherd's hut on the Dolga njiva mountain pasture.
From this hut, continue along the left side of the pasture on a poorly visible trail, which after 5 minutes of further walking brings us to another, renovated hut. Keep slightly left again, and the still poorly visible path soon enters a belt of dwarf pines, where it becomes more pronounced. Followed by traversing a short steep crumbly gravel slope, then a gentle path through pleasant meadows overgrown with dwarf pines brings us in a few minutes to the junction at Škrbina.
Here, continue right towards Krvavec via Ježa on a path moderately ascending the dwarf pine-covered slope. After about 15 minutes of ascent, the path reaches a junction, where go sharply left towards Vrh Korena, reached after one more minute of walking.
Dom na Gospincu - Dolga njiva 1:35, Dolga njiva - Vrh Korena 50 minutes.

Discussion about the trip Dom na Gospincu - Vrh Korena (via Dolga njiva)
velkavrh24. 07. 2008
Was on Vrh Korena yesterday 23.08.2008, when I came from Kalški greben. Then I went over Greben Ježa to Veliki Zvoh. Greben Ježa is not too demanding, a bit exposed, but nothing dangerous. It also has fixed cables. They added them at the top of the descent - safe. At the end of the descent, however, it is very exposed over a somewhat strange gully - caution. It has already been noted before that this section needs protection.

today we went up this path, I agree that this part before the steep ascent should be secured with cables.

Yesterday we ascended to Vrh Korena via this path, only we of course started at Planina Jezerca, where a barrier prevents further driving. The path is nicely marked and maintained. At the top we still caught a nice view, although mists had already begun to gather. We returned via Planina Koren. Pictures and a more detailed path description can be found here.

I went to Vrh Korena on 2.10.2011 via Zvoh and the path is a bit more demanding than this one via Dolga njiva!
