Dolenjske Toplice - Paragliding site Peter (Straška gora)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Dolenjske Toplice, 15 km from Novo mesto or along the regional road Žužemberk-Črnomelj, turning off at Podhosta or Podturn. In Dolenjske Toplice we park on one of the parking lots, most conveniently on the large parking lot opposite the pool complex.

Route description:
In Dolenjske Toplice we find the path towards the park and trim trail. Over the bridge we cross the stream Sušica and just after the bridge we go on the path on the right. We continue on the path along the stream, we go past the treatment plant, and after a good 10 minutes we come to the next bridge, here we turn left and step on an asphalt road. On the road, we turn right, we go past the motorhome stop, on the bridge over the river Krka, and just behind the bridge on the asphalt road to the right and uphill. We come to the main road, which we cross, and continue the ascent on a narrower asphalt road. After approximately 300 meters we come to a crossroad of three roads, here the first signpost appears. We continue left on the asphalt in the direction of the sign, or we can look for a beaten shortcut in the forest and shorten the path a little. At the next crossroad, we stick to the left, in the direction of the sign. Here the path quite steeply ascends among the vineyard cottages, to the sharp right turn, after which the asphalt quickly ends. From here we have two options.

A) At the turn we continue straight in the direction of the sign on a forest path. It steadily ascends, after the right turn a little more steeply, and at the end of the ascent brings us to a macadam road, after which there is approximately a 2-minute walk to the top.

B) At the turn we turn right on a macadam path, which horizontally crosses the slope above the highest vineyard cottages. From the path a beautiful view opens up towards Novo mesto, Gorjanci and Trška gora. After approximately 400 meters we notice the sign, which directs us left to the metal stairs; these bring us to a forest path and further to the top. From the stairs approx. 10 minutes to the top.
