Dolena (Stojana vas) - Janški vrh

Access to starting point:
A) We leave the Štajerska motorway at the exit Slovenska Bistrica - north, then we follow the road towards Ptuj. Just a little before we get to the Podravska motorway, we turn right towards Kidričevo, through the settlement we continue straight to Apače, where at the roundabout we take the "left" exit towards Ptuj. Approximately 100 m ahead we go right onto a side road, on which we quickly arrive in the centre of Apače, where at the intersection by the chapel we go left. We continue towards Lancova vas, before the sign for the beginning of the municipality Videm we go right and drive to the settlement Trnovec, where we go towards Bolečka vas. Next follows some ascent and then descent to the Dravinjska valley, where we cross the road Majšperk - Videm pri Ptuju. Next follows crossing of the Dravinja and we already arrive in the settlement Dolena, we drive to the hamlet Stojana vas, where we notice red hiking signposts, where the described path begins. At the starting point there are no arranged parking places, so we park in an appropriate place nearby.
B) We leave the Podravska motorway at the exit Lancova vas, then we continue through the settlement Tržec, from there we follow the signs for Majšperk. Further we drive through the settlements Jurovci, Popovci and Zgornja Pristava to an intersection, where we turn left towards the settlement Dolena. Next follows crossing of the Dravinja and we already arrive in the settlement Dolena, we drive to the hamlet Stojana vas, where we notice red hiking signposts, where the described path begins. At the starting point there are no arranged parking places, so we park in an appropriate place nearby.

Route description:
From the starting point we head onto the path towards Janški vrh, where after the meadow the path enters the forest and ascends along a cart track. There follows a diagonal ascent along the cart track, where we follow the blazes, higher up the blazes direct us slightly to the left and we ascend across the forested slope to an indistinct ridge, where the forest thins out and the path turns right. There follows an ascent past some abandoned houses, when we reach the asphalt road we descend past some weekend cottages. From this section a nice view already opens up transiently towards the church of St. John on Janški vrh, at the nearby intersection we go straight ahead and begin ascending again. At the next intersection we go slightly right and ascend diagonally across the panoramic slope, when at the marked junction we reach the ridge, we go sharply right and past a few more houses ascend to the church of St. John.
