Döbriach - Breitwand (Luft unter den Sohlen)

Access to starting point:
Through the Karawanks Tunnel, we drive onto the Tauern motorway (the motorway which leads towards Salzburg), which we follow to the place Pogöriach, where we leave the motorway and continue driving in the direction of the place Feistritz an der Drau. In the mentioned place, through the underpass we cross the parallel old road Beljak / Villach - Spittal and continue driving in the direction of the place Döbriach. The road then becomes a little more winding and takes us past the place Glanz to Millstätter See, after which we arrive at the place Döbriach.
Because parking right next to the wall is not allowed, from the main road we turn right into the center and park on the parking lot at the church.

Route description:
From the church, we continue on the asphalt road from which we already see the wall. The road leads us through the underpass and rises slightly. At the junction, we then continue left past the factory Obweger. At the junction after the factory, where there are signs and signposts, we continue right following the signs Bratwand.
Further on, we walk on the path through the forest and stick to the marks »Sektor A Klettersteig«. When we come out of the forest, there follows a shorter ascent to the wall. Below the wall, we continue on the path slightly to the right, where the start of the climbing path is.
Before entering the climbing section of the path, we must equip ourselves with a helmet, self-belaying device and climbing gloves. Because the path is extremely demanding, a daisy chain or auxiliary anchoring systems will also be useful for resting in the vertical wall. For the less experienced, additional protection with a rope is also necessary.
The climbing path at first crosses the wall to the left for a short time, then becomes extremely demanding. We ascend steeply up the wall (difficulty C/D). Further on, we climb up the steep wall, and the difficulty does not let up. There follows a short crossing along a narrow ledge to the left, then again steeply upwards towards the overhang which we see above us. Over the overhang, some artificial steps assist us, but the ascent is still extremely demanding (difficulty D). Above the overhang, climbing continues in the steep wall (difficulty C/D). Later, the path turns right and ascends a steep gully to the logbook box. At the logbook box there is also a small bench on which we can rest a little before the most demanding part of the path.
From the logbook box, we first ascend steeply up the wall (difficulty D), then there follows a demanding and very exposed crossing to the right (difficulty D). Finally, we must climb vertically upwards (difficulty D/E) all the way to the vantage point at the top of the wall.
From the vantage point, we descend on an easier path that leads along the left side of the wall. The descent path is secured in some places, but the difficulty does not exceed A/B.
