Access to starting point:
a) From Kranjska Gora, via the Vršič pass or Predel pass, we drive to Bovec, where we park at the lower station of the Kanin circular cable car (the cable car is located near the petrol station). Then we buy a ticket and take the cable car to the D station.
b) From the Primorska side, we first drive to the Soča river valley and then through Tolmin and Kobarid to Bovec, where we park at the lower station of the Kanin circular cable car (the cable car is located near the petrol station). Then we buy a ticket and take the cable car to the D station.
Route description:
From the D station, we head slightly left onto the path towards Kanin and the hut (slightly right Prestreljenik and Rombon). Initially we walk along the ski slope track, then the path forks. Slightly to the right continues the path to Visoki Kanin and the path towards Prestreljeniško okno (also Okno v Prestreljeniku), we continue slightly left and walk along the foot of the screes to the foot of a small wall. Here wire ropes appear with the help of which we climb over the technically demanding section. After about 15 minutes the steepness eases, the scenic path then continues with some shorter ascents and descents, on exposed sections where the path runs above crevices or chasms, safety devices are still there to help us. We follow such a path, which continues through the world of Kanin plateaus, to the bivouac, from which we descend in a few steps to Dom Petra Skalarja na Kaninu.

D station - junction to Dom Petra Skalarja 0:10, junction to Dom Petra Skalarja - Dom Petra Skalarja 0:40.

Description and photos refer to the condition in 2019 (July).

Discussion about the trip D postaja - Dom Petra Skalarja na Kaninu

Is the path suitable for a 10-year-old child zmeden who is otherwise used to hiking in the mountains? Thanks for the answer.

The cable car is not operating. Another option is the starting point at B postaja.

Whether the path is suitable for a child, judge for yourself, because only you know your child's abilities best.

Condition-wise she is capable of the path, the steel cables and pegs are no problem zadrega, I'm worried if the path is dangerous (exposed to falls).

I added a link.

From D station to Dom P. Skalarja along the path dangers are represented by scree and gullies as well as chasms. By watching where we step, on the marked path, there should be no problems.
