Charlotte Pass - Mount Kosciuszko (Summit Walk)

Charlotte Pass is situated in Kosciuszko National Park in the state of New South Wales, 2627, Australia. Charlotte Pass is connected by the 39.8 km long Kosciuszko Rd., which starts at a roundabout 1.5 km northwest of Jindabyne, New South Wales, 2627, Australia. No public transport is available.

Route description:
The Summit Walk begins at the end of Kosciuszko Rd., above the parking lots at Charlotte Pass. Just 30 meters from the start of the Summit Walk, the longer Main Range Track also begins, which runs along the ridge of the highest mountains of mainland Australia. Both paths are marked; the Summit Walk slightly ascends, while the Main Range Track descends at the beginning. In the first kilometer of the path, the forest ends. Around the 5th kilometer, a bridge crosses the Snowy River stream. After approximately 6.5 kilometers is Seaman's Hut, and Rawson Pass after 7.7 kilometers, where the Kosciuszko Walk from the direction of Thredbo (also from the upper station of the Kosciuszko Express chairlift and Eagles Nest restaurant) also joins. Bikes are allowed up to this point.

From Rawson Pass, a gentle ascent continues on a wide path that loops from the eastern side of the mountain to the northern and western side before reaching the summit. There is a nice view from the summit. Nearby is also the second highest mountain of mainland Australia (Mount Townsend, 2209 m). Return is also possible via the longer Main Range Track.
