Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Koper highway, take the Unec exit and follow the road ahead towards Cerknica. Only a few 100 meters before Cerknica, we will come to a crossroad, where the road towards Begunje and Slivnica branches off to the left. Here we continue straight (not in the direction of Slivnica) on the road, which soon brings us to the center of the settlement. When we drive past the bridge over the river Cerkniščica, we need to pay attention, because only a little further a road which brings us to our starting point branches off to the left. Approximately 50 meters after the discount store Hura, we will on the left side of the road notice signposts for the mountain hut Dom na Slivnici, which point us to the left on an ascending road. After a short ascent, we will notice the beginning of the footpath, and on the opposite side of it we park on the asphalt parking lot.
Route description:
From the parking lot first we cross the road, then we head on the footpath in the direction of the mountain hut Dom na Slivnici. The path first gently ascends through a lane of bushes, then passes into pine forest, where it starts to ascend a little steeper. Higher, we cross some forest roads, after which the path almost entirely flattens. There follows a few minutes' walk through mixed forest, then it joins a worse forest road, which we follow only a few 10 meters. Further, the blazes direct us slightly right into a lane of bushes, and the path then over a grazing fence brings us to the ample grassy slopes of Slivnica. From the gentle path, which further leads us across the mentioned grassy slopes, beautiful views open up on the ridge of Javorniki and Cerkniško polje with Cerkniško jezero. Further, the path passes into a lane of sparse pine forest and starts moderately ascending. When we step out of the forest again, we already see the mountain hut Dom na Slivnici ahead of us, which is only 5 minutes of easy walking away.

Discussion about the trip Cerknica - Dom na Slivnici
mt18. 10. 2006
MT-From the parking lot at the Brest factory through the clear-cut and forest, the path is somewhat steep and time-consuming in places. From the top of the forest trail and across the meadows (Štale) it's pleasant, flat with nice views of the Cerknica field. (Let's follow the "SECURED MEADOW" markings!)
From Dolgi vrh (end of the meadow) a short ascent and we're at the hut on Slivnica. From the hut to the summit is less than 5 min. Pleasant easy path, only the summit stamp is quite worn.
Gost8. 12. 2007
From Martinjak above the village near the reservoir, a good hour of steep poorly-marked path that doesn't let up, except right below the hut. The stamp is a smudge any honest person would be ashamed of.
Gost9. 12. 2007
The stamp was changed this June (as the metal one is damaged too) but didn't last long jezen. What with vandals among us!
MartinaZ11. 03. 2008
Last month I also visited Slivnica. Very nice trip. I was also disappointed that the stamp is destroyed. In the hut they offered me some stamp that looked more like a company stamp than a mountaineering one... so I preferred without. Maybe they could put a real stamp in the hut, where it would be safer? After all, it's Dom na Slivnici in the booklet. Best regards
magacoprnon11. 03. 2008
On Sunday we plan to climb Slivnica. Please provide info on current conditions - is it very wet and muddy?
spoty12. 03. 2008
Nothing worse than elsewhere, but if the weather is nice until the end of the week, the path might be fine.
zvarurb25. 10. 2009
Does anyone know what condition the stamp on Slivnica is in now and where it's located?
Enka27. 04. 2010
After a year, we set off again via Čemaž to Slivnica. A pleasant family outing, during which pancakes from the friendly caretaker of the Dom na Slivnici should not be missed nasmeh.
sk227. 04. 2010
The stamp is on the box (at the top).
j.tratnik17. 05. 2011
Fantastic location, but unfortunately incompetent caretakers-tenants.
Last weekend we were with the family for lunch, friendly staff, which since the caretaker changed has been replaced by a scruffy hippie longhair who doesn't know or doesn't want to serve guests friendly. He greets you with "this is what we have, if you don't like it, go away!!!"
Shame, it was already looking like it would improve

And does anyone know if the hut is open on Mondays too? thanks
kofetarca12. 06. 2011
The hut is being renovated, last weekend it was still a real mess in front of and around the hut...It was written that the hut would be open at the beginning of June, but it doesn't look good mežikanje
j.tratnik20. 11. 2011
After half a year I visited the hut again. This time the last time. The guy serving is still uninterested in guests, the food has noticeably lost quality and taste. When I saw the owner coming from the kitchen (wrapped in a strong smell of old sweat) completely disheveled, sniffling, I was horrified. What is such a person doing in the kitchen? It would be time for the municipality to act and return the hut to what it once was. At least cultured and clean people.
savinjcan6520. 11. 2011
I also had a bad experience, the caretaker was not happy because we ordered "ONLY" tea.
tinebine24. 05. 2012
Horrible!!! After one year since the new caretaker took over the hut, things are just deteriorating. The new caretaker is rude, neglected (some deodorant and shower and mouthwash would do him good - and a visit to the dentist too) when you meet him during the week when it's "closed" he barely greets back, God forbid you ask if you can get something, the food is always worse. DESPAIR, what a person can make of a nice hut. Let Fras come back, at least it will be like it was and not everything worse.
tanja30724. 05. 2012
Two years ago we were up there by bike, fantastic location, organization oh God help... I don't know who the caretaker was then, the man was friendly otherwise, but we experienced by far the sloooowest and terribly scattered service, even though there weren't many of us (chasing staff for order, endless waiting, wrong brought, again chasing staff around the hut for the bill...). The same scenario was happening at all tables. I hope? that the situation improves, because it's a shame for such an exceptional location to deteriorate due to bad reputation.
miri24. 05. 2012
I think it doesn't belong under mountain huts.
VanSims24. 05. 2012
>>>again chasing the hut staff for the bill..

Well, I really wouldn't do that. You ask for the bill, and if they don't bring it, you get upset. Then someone else will hurry after you, don't worry velik nasmeh
jprim24. 05. 2012

@tinebine
Comment about the hut - yes, but resorting to the person's appearance itself just shows your character, which must be quite low, no offense.
vik25. 05. 2012
It's not a hut, not a mountain lodge. I've been up there many times because I'm from here, sometimes I stop by and have good experiences. Really, some criticism is sometimes in place, but as the previous one says, spitting on a person like that, those are real characters. I wouldn't want to meet you in the mountains, no offense.
jesihar26. 05. 2012
Those who take away only the experience of bad service from trips can't be helped.
malihodec26. 05. 2012
The one who in May 2012 pours out their experiences from two years ago in the comments really can't be helped!

tinebine20. 06. 2012
@jprim - Lowly character up or down. When you meet such a neglected person at the kitchen door??? zmedenzmeden Maybe it doesn't bother you.
@vik - You can meet us in the mountains, but no longer on Slivnica. As long as it's like this, they won't see me there anymore.
icehell15. 06. 2014
Hi. I'm interested when the hut is open during the week. Thanks.
Lunca13. 10. 2014
Hi, I'm also interested in how it is with the hut's opening? Is the stamp only available at the hut or can it be obtained outside as well?
Enka13. 10. 2014
The stamp is up top, at the antenna. It's advisable to bring your own ink pad.
mojčman20. 06. 2015
Hello,
I'm interested if the hut is open also during the week? and what is the food offer?
Thanks

Currently, in winter conditions, the hut is accessible by car from the village of Grahovo. The hut is open Thursday and Friday from 12:00, Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 7:00. In case the road is not plowed and in case of bad weather, it is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

Fulcrum2. 03. 2020
