Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Luče (to here from Mozirje or from Kamnik over mountain pass Volovljek (Kranjski Rak)), and then we continue driving towards Logarska dolina. In the village Solčava we leave the main road towards Logarska dolina and we continue driving right in the direction of Podolševa, mountain pass Spodnje Sleme and Črna na Koroškem. Further on the road loses its asphalt covering, and after a few kilometers at the crossroad in Podolševa we turn right towards Črna na Koroškem. The road, which further mainly ascends transversely, brings us after some time to mountain pass Spodnje Sleme. Here we turn right in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na Grohatu and farm Bukovnik (farm Bukovnik is located at an altitude of 1327 meters and is considered the highest-lying farm in Slovenia) and we continue the ascent on a macadam road which a few 100 meters higher brings us to the next crossroad. At the mentioned crossroad a forest road closed to public traffic branches off slightly to the left, which leads towards Koča na Grohatu, and straight ahead the road continues towards the aforementioned farm. We park in a suitable place near the crossroad.
B) We drive to Črna na Koroškem (to here from Ravne na Koroškem or from Šoštanj through mountain pass Spodnje Sleme), and then we continue driving towards Luče. Initially the road is still asphalt, higher up it becomes macadam and brings us to a crossroad of several roads on mountain pass Spodnje Sleme. Here we turn left in the direction of Koča na Grohatu and farm Bukovnik (farm Bukovnik is located at an altitude of 1327 meters and is considered the highest-lying farm in Slovenia) and we continue the ascent on a macadam road which a few 100 meters higher brings us to the next crossroad. At the mentioned crossroad a forest road closed to public traffic branches off slightly to the left, which leads towards Koča na Grohatu, and straight ahead the road continues towards the aforementioned farm. We park in a suitable place near the crossroad.
Route description:
From the starting point we head onto the upper left road (the lower road leads towards the farm Bukovnik), which a few dozen meters ahead leads us over a barrier. A little after the barrier, which prevents further driving, we arrive at the spot where the blazes direct us left onto a marked footpath, which initially rises somewhat more steeply and then quickly levels out. The path further gently ascends towards the south, crossing a large number of gullies and some steeper slopes. At some places wooden bridges assist us, and on one section even a steel cable (undemanding). After approximately half an hour of walking we step out of the forest and the path brings us to a forest road, which then leads us across the mountain pasture Grohat. From here only a few steps of gentle ascent follow and the path, from which a nice view opens onto the northern slopes of Raduha, quickly brings us to the mountain hut Koča na Grohatu.

Discussion about the trip Bukovnik - Koča na Grohatu (by step)

I don't get how they put such a hike in SPP?jezen
Gost7. 07. 2007
Not everything is rock and chains. Such strolls are also nice.
Gost7. 07. 2007
Some have small children - and it's also a nice half-hour walk. Yes, we'll have to donate photos and a contribution for the trail to the top of Raduha (via
Durce or the climbing one)
Gost7. 07. 2007
nasmehBecause I've hiked the trail many times - even after a very demanding surgery when I was gathering strength for new challenges in the mountains, I think this trail is really nice and the eye can enjoy the surroundings! You just have to see it! The beauty of Slovenia and its mountains is immeasurable!
TGO23. 06. 2009
I'm interested in what the options are for ascending Raduha from here? On the map there's a marked footpath, and I've seen elsewhere that there is a path (or even two paths). True, it's usually mentioned that the path is climbing and more demanding. I'm curious how much climbing? I like a bit of climbing, a view into an abyss or two is fine for me, but I'd avoid some alpinistic ascent that requires specific gear zavijanje z očmi So, what do the experts say? mežikanje
tadeya23. 06. 2009
For me personally, the path from Grohat is nicer than from Loka. There's a bit of climbing, just enough to taste some cables and to pull yourself up a bit on the rocks. No special gear needed, just nice if it's dry. In the book 50 secured climbing paths it's described as slightly demanding. Just cheerfully upwards, regardsnasmeh

Many thanks nasmeh Now we just have to wait for ideal weathermrk pogled
geppo23. 06. 2009
At the junction
left Durce - DEMANDING PATH
right VERY DEMANDING PATH (RADUHA SUMMIT) - take this one.
Very nicely routed in the heart of the Raduha ridge so that you'll be sorry when it ends too soon and you'll be out of the rocks.
Regards

There is one spot that could possibly be routed a bit differently, I think it's a small overhang, which doesn't bother the 'long-legged'. Otherwise really super. At the Bukovnik farm we always stock up on homemade cottage cheese, butter and cream.
Safe steps!

Today we were on Grohat via this path. Nice short trip, friendly caretakers, strudel also very good...nasmeh
ZOJA2. 04. 2011
Please, can someone tell me if the road is passable to Bukovnik? Can we possibly park lower and continue on the mentioned path.... is the hut open at this time? lp
štajerka6216. 04. 2011
The road is quite solid and drivable to Bukovnik. I was up there today, the hut unfortunately closed. The stamp is also nowhere outside. I called the caretaker's number, he says someone probably stole the stamp already. But I've been to many places where the hut is closed and the stamp is available in some box or carved into the rock.
Well, no harm done, since I didn't go just for the stamp. It was a nice hike, after a long winter sleep.

One question from the other end of SLO mežikanje Are Koča na Grohatu and Koča na Loki pod Raduho somehow connected to each other?
otiv18. 05. 2014
No tunnel velik nasmeh, but there is a mountain path over Durc, which takes about 1.5h.nasmeh
Best regards!
Lunca18. 05. 2014
but I was hoping at least for some bridge mežikanje Thanks for the reply!
simonmanutd19. 05. 2014
hey...wondering if the Koča na Grohatu and Koča na Loki are open now..I'm going specifically for the stamps mežikanje
Jurcekk25. 08. 2014
Simon.. were there stamps up there?
nordkap26. 08. 2014
Jurcek, stamps are both at the hut and at the top of Raduha, at the top you must have an ink pad with you to moisten it, because there is none in the box, just the stamp on a chain and a bit of patience, because the stamp is usually damp and you have to soak it for a while to get a good stamp.
I was there twice in the last 14 days, both at the top of Grohat and at Loki, where they have very good gypsy goulash, yum.
Nice trail.
glorija4. 03. 2019
I want to visit this hut during the week, I'm interested if you can drive by car to the starting point and if the stamp is outside the hut if I go during the week..thanks for the reply.
rovn4. 03. 2019
You can drive to Bukovnik by car, but the road was very icy about 3 weeks ago.
At that time there was no stamp outside the hut. We went to get it at the summit.
glorija5. 03. 2019
Rovn, many thanks for the information... how long to the top?
rovn5. 03. 2019
From Bukovnik to the hut about half an hour, maybe a bit more. From the hut to the top ca. 2h.
glorija7. 03. 2019
Rovn, many thanks for the reply, this info means a lot to me due to health reasons. I wish you safe steps and many beautiful and unforgettable moments in the mountains.
djimuzl7. 03. 2019
Of course, the walking time in snowy conditions - as they are currently - can be significantly extended.
zdejan2. 04. 2021 22:28:30
Unfortunately, the stamp outside the hut is still missing. Shame.
Tajka6729. 07. 2023 16:26:51
On the way back from Logarska I went to visit this hut too. Beautiful, renovated in an exceptional location. The path is well marked, not to mention the strudel in the hut nasmeh. Worth it just for that on an afternoon trip. Wonderful views, the entire western ridge from Krofička, Ojstrica... and far behind my beloved Grintovec. Behind the hut the great Raduha.
