Blejska Dobrava (pokopališče) - Sveta Katarina na Homu

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the Lipce exit, where we turn left (direction Blejska Dobrava and Spodnje Gorje). After 100 meters of driving, soon after we drive through the railway underpass, we find ourselves at the next intersection, where we go left uphill to Blejska Dobrava (right Bled, Gorje). When the road soon flattens, we drive straight through the village, where we follow the signs for Vintgar and the cemetery. After approx. 1 km we reach the railway tunnel. On its other side, where the road splits, we turn right, and after a few hundred meters of additional driving we arrive at a large parking lot located near the cemetery.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on foot in the same direction, straight past the cemetery and the buildings next to it, on our right. Soon after we step onto the macadam road, it turns right and starts to descend slightly. The road soon brings us into a mixed forest, where it continues slightly descending through turns. Then, when it flattens and straightens, it brings us near the Radovna River and quite quickly to the bridge, where we cross the river. On the other side, we head right uphill (left hydropower plant) and arrive at a parking lot, at the end of which we notice concrete stairs. We climb them to a log cabin (in season a buffet and ticket sales for viewing the gorge), behind which on the bridge we can also see the Šum waterfall from top to bottom past the beam. From the log cabin, we continue on the stairs on the far left in the direction marked "Katarina Bled". The path takes us past a smaller abandoned house quickly into the forest and first moderately ascends for a short time. Soon after it flattens, at the fork we choose left and a little later cross a smaller stream. Quite soon we are again at a "crossroads", where we continue straight, and the path brings us to a clearing for a short time, behind which it ascends only slightly to the left, back into the forest. A little higher along the path, we come upon a hayrack and a smaller spring, then the path turns slightly right and soon brings us out of the forest onto open ground, where we see the church of St. Catherine. On our right is a catering facility, across the parking lot on the opposite side there are also benches, where we can rest and enjoy the view.
