Access to starting point:
From Maribor or Dravograd we drive to Selnica ob Dravi, from where we continue driving towards the village Ruše. In Ruše we continue right and then left in the direction of Smolnik. An ascending road soon brings us to the mentioned village and only a few kilometers ahead to a crossroad, where we continue left towards the waterfall Šumik. Then we follow the road a good 100 m to the parking lot above the waterfalls Šumik.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we head onto an initially wide footpath in the direction of Mali and Veliki Šumik. Already after a few steps of walking a sign warns us that we will continue on a steep and dangerous for slipping path (compulsory hiking boots). The path ahead crosses the river Lobnica and starts gradually descending. Further, we descend on the path which is becoming steeper and steeper and in parts secured. When we get very close to Veliki Šumik, the path leads us over the hardest part of the path. With the help of a steel cable we descend over a shorter steep wall, and then we cross steep slopes, mostly without fixed safety gear. The path then brings us to the spot where there is a stamp (from here we already clearly see the waterfall). Next follows a steep descent to a nice vantage point on the waterfall.

Can someone tell me how to get to this starting point, I got to the parking lot where it is, I walked almost an hour and a half but couldn't hear the waterfall anywhere, had to turn back because of the weathermrk pogled

Then you already missed it!!
Just as it says. You cross the bed of the Lobnica stream. The path then runs all the way so that you see the stream bed. To the waterfall it's about 20-30 min.
The roaring can be heard from afar...

From the starting point we go back down to the valley, maybe that's what confused you. I personally recommend as a starting point the spot on the path from Smolnik, where there's a signpost Šumik by the gravel road. From there to the waterfalls, if I remember correctly, 45 min.

Due to an unpromising weather forecast, we visited nearby areas today (and got wet from rain anywaymežikanje). We started at Treh kraljih, visited Veliki Šumik, then returned past the Pohorski bataljon battlefield, Osankarica and Črno jezero back to Tri kralje. The trail is nice, just in some places quite torn up due to forestry work.

Today my better half and I went to Šumik. Super trip. Until today I didn't think there were such beautiful and dynamic paths on Pohorje too.

Earlier I read the path description here and I have to supplement it because we first got lost. On my navigation, the village Smolnik was soon behind us (although there was no Smolnik sign anywhere) and then on the left before the turn to the gravel road, a PD Ruše sign appeared with Mali Šumik, Veliki Šumik and more. We turned left onto gravel and after 100 meters really found several parking spots. We parked and headed on the path along the Lobnica stream bed. On the way we met a very friendly family who told us it's at least a couple of hours to the Šumiks on this path, not 20 minutes at all. They advised us to go back and continue by road to the village Smolnik. We followed their advice and drove further on the (asphalted) road. We drove for quite some time more (gravel and asphalt alternated) and finally arrived at Smolnik and the sign for Šumik. Then there was another white sign for Šumik (number 3 written next to it). Soon we saw a small red sign on the left by the road "warning" of a very demanding path to Šumik. A few meters further we parked on the left by the road. So from the Smolnik sign in Ruše to the parking for Šumik is about 11km (for your orientation).

The path is really more demanding but nothing serious. Just make sure to have appropriate footwear. The whole thing reminded me of the Martuljek waterfalls. One way took us less than an hour at moderate pace.

Yesterday, 10.8., I was very enthusiastic about the path, even more about the view of Veliki and Mali Šumik. A bit less enthusiastic about the "lost" stamp before Veliki Šumik.

Since I was at Koča na Šumik today, I have to give my comment. Two spritzers plus two cocktails for free, and even without a bill.

This weekend, 14th and 15th September, I was with my chamois on a hike from Maribor to Slovenj Gradec. Already the 2nd year - wonderful tour!! And guess what: the Šumik stamp "turned up" at Ruška koča on Areh ...rolling Who seeks, finds - something like that.

I'm wondering where the stamp being talked about belongs?
I can't find it in the Logbook of the Slovenian Mountain Trail.

Belongs to "Ruško planinsko pot" - check the planinske obhodnice!

where should I start to go along this path and walk intensively for 2 hours
martin420. 09. 2014
Rene,
read the description of Nočnega ptiča. If you leave the car at the 1st bend, or find parking further ahead when the road sharply turns right towards Smolnik, then you will walk approx. 2 hours one way (depending on how fast you are). Otherwise look at the hiking map for Pohorje, or you can start already from Ruš. Immediately after the cemetery, hiking markers and signs appear on the left side!

Was there a couple of days ago, the parking lot is a bit harder to find but sharing the link.

On the path to Veliki Šumik waterfall, the cable is quite loose in certain places, so extra caution is required!

What's the waterfall's flow like? lp
