Babni Vrt - Sveti Lovrenc (Bašelj) (through forest)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the Brnik exit; when we reach the road Mengeš - Kranj, we continue left towards Kranj. On the main road towards Kranj, we drive to the first roundabout, from where we continue on the first exit right in the direction of Šenčur. Through Šenčur, we continue on the main road; then, when we reach the road Kranj - Zgornje Jezersko, we continue right in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue driving left towards the center of the mentioned settlement; from there, we follow the signs for the settlement Bašelj. A little after the settlement Bašelj, the road descends to the stream Milka and crosses it over a bridge. Here, a road branches off to the right by which we get to Babni Vrt; we drive above the settlement, where the asphalt road towards the last homestead turns left, and we continue right. Further on, we drive past the quarry, and behind it we get to a smaller crossroad, by which we park in an appropriate place.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana, take the Kranj west exit, then continue driving towards Golnik. When we get to Tenetiše, we leave the main road towards Golnik and continue driving right in the direction of Trstenik. Approximately 1 km after the settlement Trstenik, we get to a smaller crossroad, where first the road towards the settlement Povlje branches off to the left, a few 100 m ahead also towards Babni Vrt. We continue towards Babni Vrt; from the crossroad above the settlement, we turn right onto a macadam road, along which we then drive past the quarry. We park behind the quarry in an appropriate place by the next crossroad.

Route description:
From the starting point, we continue on the left road, which continues on the right side of the quarry (straight path below Storžič); a little ahead, it splits into two wide cart tracks. We continue on the right cart track, which immediately goes into the forest, then first gently, but after the left hairpin moderately to steeply ascends. Further at the junctions, we follow the right directions; on a smaller saddle, we continue left upwards on a rougher cart track, which soon ends. From the end of the cart track or logging trail, we start steeply ascending on a forest path; after a few minutes on it, we reach another cart track, which we follow to the right, and quickly join the path from Bašelj or Laški.
We continue left upwards, and after a minute or two of further walking, we arrive at the Dom na Lovrencu hut.
From the hut, we continue in the direction of Javornik, Velika and Mala Poljana, Kališče and Storžič, on the path which moderately ascends through the forest. The well-beaten path quickly takes us out of the forest onto an extensive hay meadow, across which we walk with fine views to the church of St. Lovrenc.
