Access to starting point:
a) From the Ljubljana - Maribor highway, we take the Arja vas, or Velenje exit and follow the road to the mentioned town. From Velenje we continue in the direction of Šoštanj. From Šoštanj we continue driving in the direction of Črna na Koroškem, but only to the Spodnje Sleme pass, where we turn left towards Andrejev dom. After 100 m we come to the next crossroad, where we continue left to Andrejev dom in front of which we park.
b) From the Koroška side we first drive to Črna na Koroškem and we follow the road further towards Šoštanj. At the Spodnje Sleme pass we turn right towards Andrejev dom. Further, we follow the above description.
Route description:
From Andrejev dom na Slemenu we continue along the road in the direction of Dom na Smrekovcu. The road soon brings us to the first crossroad, where we continue left upwards. Further we follow the road, which climbs for some time more, then begins gently descending to the next crossroad, where we continue right, again in the direction of Dom na Smrekovcu. We soon leave this road as the blazes direct us left onto a cart track, which first ascends moderately, then quite steeply. There follows one hour of walking with some descents and ascents to a junction by the chapel, where the path from Črna na Koroškem joins from the right. We continue towards Smrekovec and a little further we reach a road, where we continue in the direction of Smrekovec along the road, or right in the direction of Smrekovec via Bukov stan. From here onwards, all the way to the junction, which we reach after approximately 30 minutes of further walking, the road ascends gently. At the junction we leave the road and head right onto a wide footpath, which in a moderate ascent, first through the forest, then across a grassy slope, brings us to Dom na Smrekovcu.
Izhodišče - Kramarica 2:00, Kramarica - Dom na Smrekovcu 1:00.

Discussion about the trip Andrejev dom na Slemenu - Dom na Smrekovcu

Nice and well-kept hut, and apparently good žganci nasmeh
Zeleni10. 07. 2012
Yes, and a friendly caretaker who issues the bill only when you request it. Friendliness exactly like this: What weather do you have today at Smrekovec - The same as everywhere in Slovenia.
čeveljc24. 09. 2012
It's also nice that the "hut is open every day until the end of October, then Saturday, Sunday, holidays" ... and you arrive, say on Monday morning and find out that yes, the hut is open that day too - but only from 18h-22h ... officially all nice and proper but such a surprise is not particularly pleasant!

Today walked the circular path:
- Bele Vode (Sveti Andrej) to Andrejev dom na Slemenu (this part of the path is very annoying, as it runs along the road all the way, and the signs at intersections are only for Smrekovec, so I absolutely recommend printing the above text, and there are no markings either)
- then from Andrejev dom to Dom na Smrekovcu (part of the path we return as if going back to Bele Vode, but when we leave the road, a really pleasant walk through the forest begins and the markings are also clearly visible, I'd say new ones. At the junction I suggest not choosing the road variant but through Bukov gozd)
- finally from Smrekovec back to Bele Vode (again almost 40 minutes of walking along the road from Repšak to Sveti Andrej)

all together 6 and a half hours of walking with a break at Smrekovcu (oh, the caretaker Fika and the patron are incomparable, I think. And for so many years already, even the previous one, exactly in 2002, it was already him. He hasn't learned friendliness in 10 years. If I had known that, I wouldn't have ordered that single portion either, but rather skipped lunch and headed down to the valley)

Today from Andrejev dom to Dom na Smrekovcu, only one path trodden, and only a few of us went, at junction pic no.9 no tracks from neither Črna nor Bele Vode. From Andrejev dom 3 hours, to Dom na Smrekovcu not as written here 2.5 hours. In snow even slower, took more than 3 hours though I went well. Sunny weather, no wind, thermometer -9 degrees.
Becar27. 06. 2013
Indeed, at the hut on Slemen there is written 3 hours and I think that for the average hiker it holds better than 2:30 hours. I don't conclude only from my pace, but comparatively with other paths.
rantlo28. 06. 2013
The caretaker wouldn't open the hut door, even though his car was parked in front and windows open in the upper floor. There was no notice on the hut door about opening hours, nor about any stamp. I came from very far. Such huts shouldn't be on the SPP list.
rantlo28. 06. 2013
I meant Andrejev dom.
Janiel7428. 06. 2013
rantlo: I remember that hut when I was collecting stamps last year... I went to Smrekovec, then down to Dom na Smrekovcu, where Fika still didn't have anything to eat. Well, I thought I'd eat at Andrejev dom... I get there... inside 3-4 drunks... of course nothing to eat. I stamp and starve back to the car...
matdra28. 06. 2013
Is wizard Fika still living there? Weren't they looking for a new caretaker?
Becar28. 06. 2013
Fika is still the caretaker.
ludri29. 06. 2013
Fika legend!!! The best host far and wide...

Today I did a circular tour. To avoid the tiring climb back to Bele Vode, leave the car preferably at Rebršak and in the morning head right away along the road towards Križ. Not only are you rested - the path shortens by a full 20 min, as you only need to go to Sovinka and continue the tour towards Slemenu, and thus you don't lose the necessary elevation. lp MM

Yesterday, 23.2.2014, we set off on this path towards Dom na Smrekovcu velik nasmeh
We did the tour: Andrejev dom na Slemenu - Kramarica (along the road) - Dom na Smrekovcu - and back the same way.

The tour took us 8 hours. There is quite a lot of snow, sinking in places. No track was made, so we had to break it ourselves. At the same time there are quite a few fallen trees, which makes the path even more difficult and consequently prolongs the walking time. So instead of 2.5 hours, we walked 4 hours to Dom na Smrekovcu.
But we made it easier for other hikers, as you can now go on this tour without problems, since the track is made, and the path is also more visible as we cleared the markers that were under the snow mežikanje
From Kramarica to Dom na Smrekovcu we went along the road, as the track was already made there. Through Bukov stan yesterday there was still no track.

You can see pictures from the hike on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.mojalbum.com/pdmaticams/20140223-dom-na-smrekovcu/izhodisce-pri-andrejevemu-domu-na-slemenu/21504835

Dom na Smrekovcu is unkempt, dilapidated and really in poor condition. My girlfriend and I stayed overnight and paid 40€ for one night, without receipt of course! The next morning an extremely inhospitable lady "served" us, who totally missed her calling, as she really knows nothing about service. We ordered coffee and that's really all we got, without saucer, spoon, sugar, in short everything along the line of least resistance, without receipt - normal! jezen
I recommend avoiding this hut by a wide margin if you don't want it to ruin your trip!

@tickon
I would add some assumptions to your comment, although I would simply overlook your post because I don't care.
1. They came to sleep over and probably ate or drank something before sleeping for which they got a "bill", or not???
2. They paid 40€ for accommodation, which means they are not PZS members and since the lady didn't want to lower the price valid for PZS members, he wanted to screw her.
3. The whole matter interests me only because of those holes in your post. I would add that I was at Smrekovec 2-3 times this year and always got a bill and polite servicenasmeh

I also did a loop yesterday to Smrekovec and then to Andrejev dom na Slemenu and back to the car. Unfortunately I didn't park in the valley but about 2km higher and walked about 7 hours, back along the road. The path from Smrekovec runs through the forest (spruce nasmeh ), no views... quite boring. There's very little snow, except below the summit of Smrekovec where there's quite some, track is made.

If I went again, I'd go to Andrejev dom by car for the stamp and do a separate tour from another starting point to Smrekovec and onwards to Travnik, because you walk along the top of the ridge and have wonderful views.

As for the hut, Dom na Smrekovcu made a much better impression on me even though I only stopped briefly.
mailman31. 12. 2017
And there was a crowd in the afternoon too, right? cool
Lisica31. 12. 2017
Crowd only at Smrekovec. For such a nice and panoramic peak, it fits. velik nasmeh
mailman1. 01. 2018
I meant in the hut. Accordion and that...cool
Lisica1. 01. 2018
eek Ah, I missed that. cool Will have to repeat the tour. nasmeh
Tadej16. 07. 2025 18:27:46
I corrected the walking time from 2.5 hours to 3 hours.
