Thursday 26.8.2021
At 6 am at the empty metro station with my son we wait for the first morning train. It takes us to Pitis station, where we transfer to the suburban train C8 - Cercedilla (8 eur return). This train is also empty at such an early hour.
7:30 we get off at the nice small CERCEDILLA station. It's pleasantly fresh. Behind the station up the road. After a few minutes walking along the highway we turn right into the hill. The path is well trodden. Soon we are in the pine forest. A little more than an hour to the first viewpoint. Now the ridge of the mountains inviting us is nicely visible. The path becomes more and more picturesque, interesting. At 10:20 we spot the first peak separated from the ridge - Majalasma 1933 m. Among granite formations of various sizes we climb onto it. The rock is rough and compact. After looking around we descend to the second peak, which is already part of the ridge. The white pine, main tree species of the slope, has various artistic shapes. Branches, trunks shaped by winter winds. Quite some snow falls. On the ridge we climb some formations forming the second of the seven peaks. Follows descent to the saddle Puerto de la Fuenfria. For descent we use the marked path Camino Schmid. In between remains of the Roman XXIV branch path leading to Segovio are clearly visible. During descent we meet climbers. The lower we go, the hotter it gets.
A little before Cercedilla town we step onto the path we took up in the morning. At 14:10 we are again at the railway station. Thermometer on the street showed +36 C. Cold beer poured into a mug taken from the cooler, frothy when pouring. Uf, every sip was a pleasure!
The path is quite easy and suitable for everyone. Markings are yellow dots, very visible. No direction signs, easy to turn onto another path branch!!
Despite drought, burned grass there are quite a few water springscool. Water is cold and I drank it with pleasure. Plenty of additional variants and combinations. We were time limited and tied to public transport and adapted to that. Walked 18 km / 6h 39 min.

8.7.2023 This year too with my son we visited this nice area near Madrid. Initially planned Monday but forecasted +39C. Rather used Saturday for which forecast was +35C.
Start of the trip similar to 2021. In Cercedilla pleasant +19C. Approach to ridge we spiced a bit our way - off-trail. A bit needed to climb, jump from boulder to boulder, contained all that belongs to off-trail. I didn't notice any ugly marks and other disturbing elements that don't belong in nice nature.cool
Descent in the coolness of the stream that charmed us with some waterfalls. Did about same km and time similar as 2021.
Trail mostly in shade, water along the way.
Nicely experienced Saturday in Spain
