Vrh Ovčje planine and Pri Banderi

After a weekend in the sign of women, today I set out from the village Soča towards Planina nad Sočo, of course with the purpose of searching. At the planina I turn left and cross the slopes towards Stador, then turn upwards and climb to the summit of Ovčje planina, along the ridge I cross towards the east to the summit Pri Banderi, go a bit further, then descend directly down, also through a few-meter-wide belt of scrub, where below I catch the hunting trail, which afterwards I lose and find again several times and so to the planina, then back to the valley. From the hunting hut on the planina onwards mainly pathless.

I hope the weekend wasn't that strenuous, I myself was on this hike 21 years ago with my daughter who was 12 then and was the youngest. Every year this hike awakens nice memories of my first visit to Triglav. LP

For some time we had planned to see how it looks up there. From the Soča hunting hut off-trail to the summit Pri Banderi 1973m. When viewed from afar it looks like a very easy and simple approach. But when you are there, everything is different. We had imagined an easier path. We sensed that there was peak after peak. We started near the small Korita. Along the path to Lemovje. To the hut known. Then into tall grass using navigation. It went well for us. Under the summit seven hawks were circling. One descended lower and eyed Maksija. They saw that it was not real (rabbit) and flew further. It is nice to watch them gliding with the wind. On the summit we took our time. We were not in a hurry. We had fairly solid weather with clouds, wind and sun. For the descent we decided to go along the ridge for some time and then descend along the edge of the scree. But we descended a bit early. We did not see the dense scrub below, through which we pushed. There was quite some searching for passages. With the help of navigation we managed to reach the lower path. Otherwise it is poorly visible. Off-trails are like that; those who have walked them know. At the end of the tour to the korita at least to dip. I do not know how many degrees the Soča has there. It is not quite warm. In the end all four quite satisfied.(23.07.2025)
