Visoka polica - Cima delle Cenge , 2002m

Was on the summit on Tuesday. All parking lots by the lake were closed for filming needs except the last, the largest one. So I walked on the asphalt in the dark to the starting point at the cannon.
Then along the hunter's path until it turns left over the water, from there right uphill trackless to marked 656. Along it to the saddle, where I parked the furry one. From there onwards as the others describe. In the gully at least for me at two spots an extra step would have been welcome, the ridge is very exposed in several places. Caution and concentration are needed throughout. Surprisingly the descent did not seem harder to me.
I returned via the traverse path under the Vettas and down the hunter's path. At one spot a small landslide requires caution, in the forest before crossing the water the path is harder to follow. On the other side of the water I soon stepped onto the path walked in the morning and returned along it.

How do you interpret this route description to Visoka polica?

The eastern neighbor of Lepa glava is Visoka polica (Cima delle cenge, Hochstelle, 1968 m). Due to the proximity of nicer and more attractive peaks it is rarely visited. The easiest approach leads from Rabeljsko Lake through the wooded valley that indents from the east between the main ridge and the side mass of Vette Scabre (1778 m). From the saddle that ends the valley, we climb over grassy slopes and bushy patches to the summit, following the eastern ridge. From Rabeljsko Lake 3h. Strenuous tour. Great tour, been planning for a long time! I have two questions. Was the gully dry (I think that's very important) and where exactly at the cannon was your starting point? I've already looked for it, but saw nothingzavijanje z očmi

Gully was dry at 7am, higher up the grass was still quite wet. At two spots in the gully it was friction climbing, so dry rock was quite important for me. In wet conditions I would probably have turned back early on.
From the parking lot, go along the main road about 15-20 m back towards Rablje and on the left in the grass notice a path.

and1, do you think the description refers to Škrbina v policah?

Pastirica, thanks! We looked there by the cannon, but nothing was visible. Otherwise, your dog is a pearl, I remember you two together on Suh vrh and that's when I got the idea for the tripnasmeh.

“How do you interpret this route description to Visoka polica?” ….,

Usually such descriptions are approaches to climbing routes and descents. Short and to the point.

How do we explain this description? Simply, Mihelič didn't go there. Or probably just passed by there descending one of the climbing routes, and wrote it from memory sort of. Ideally, guide writers should study every route in detail, but with encyclopedic guides we can't avoid such cases where the author just passed by. And in the end - the description strictly speaking isn't wrong, although one can't get much help from it.

Well yeah, to Visoka Polica past Brunner surely isn't harder than up from the lake below Vetta Scabra, also from Rablje there's a path to the saddle, don't know if it's still "intact" and in use, or if nature has already done its thing with it . . .

No, but there's another possible explanation - Mihelič probably went there quite a while ago. Don't know exactly when the path over the saddle was marked, but on this memorial plaque the year 1986 is mentioned.

And if so, it's quite likely Mihelič went over it even before that. And back then, the mentioned one was maybe really the simplest option.

@ločanka hope you find it now. The dog has really been many places, but here we didn't even try. He went straight on the leash.

@dprapr - the description is from the former official PZS guide. After I got back, I thought to read what they wrote back then. Then I stumbled upon this.

@jax probably something to it, but to miss the altitude and the entry chimney ...

@turbo from Rablje you mean the officially marked one?

Open topo map finds next to Cime delle Cenge another peak, Campanile di Riofreddo, 1967 m

Yes, officially marked to the saddle, from where you descend to Brunner.

From an altitude of approx. 1300 m and upwards to the saddle the path is normally maintained and passable.

Conditions not quite up to date, now there's a bit more snow... but since there aren't many posts from here, maybe useful to someone sometime velik nasmeh

Up past Brunner, descent from the saddle straight to Rabeljsko Lake, or "to the top".
