27.04.2012 karst landscape in a broader hiking circular connection between Veliko Gradišče and Stari Tabor also via Prelož, Vroče spring, Kokoši, Lipica, Vilenica... and addition of Krvavi Potok and Povir for a broader view of this area.
Photos:Krvavi Potok - Povir, 27.04.2012

GPS track:Krvavi Potok - Povir,27.04.2012
Pleasant and dynamic trail, beautiful scenery and after the draft of the optimal variant - finally realized together with colleague Vinkot from PD Poljčane. Connected a multitude of hiking trails in the Lokev area and surroundings practically into one circular activity.

Regards bruny

Yesterday we walked the path from Sežana or the place Merče to Stari Tabor (603m) and descent to Lokev. Along the way we also viewed the mine - granite quarry and enjoyed the karst nature. Walked approximately 9 km.

Nice that you enjoyed the beautiful Karst landscape. You also visited a private marble quarry, granite though you won't find in Karst. But you would find the highest quality coal - anthracite, which has the highest calorific value in Slovenia (around 7500 calories) and that in real still well-preserved adits and shafts near the trail you did. You also went past an excellently preserved shepherd's hut (about ten meters off the marked trail). To see all that, you'd need a local guide to show you these curiosities and of course tell you something about them. Anyway you spent a nice day, come again...

On Saturday we planned to go to Kofce, but it was raining quite heavily in Kranj and we turned towards Divača. Good decision, we walked in pleasant, finally sunny weather. Start from Povir, easy walk, ascent to Strmec, then to Stari Tabor. At the top nice views of Trieste and Koper bay, towards Nanos and Vremščica, Kokoši. We didn't rush home, we drove to Lipica too. Nature really beautiful, horses grazing, others on golf, we also to Mary of Lourdes, thanks to our guide and connoisseur of these places. Before Divača also the famous Risnik sinkhole with the Divaški Kras karst educational trail. We'll come again....

Today first time to Stari Tabor. Parked in Povir. Up the steep path and down the cart track. Steep path sometimes harder to follow, although marked all the way. Below the summit a few meters of fixed ropes that spiced up the ascent. Summit wonderful viewpoint in all directions, to Nanos plateau and Vremščica, to the sea and snowy high mountains. At the top I counted 20 of us, met some more on descent. Crib set up. For the end a treat - Hudičkov spodmol, real joy for kids. nasmeh Thanks to the predecessor for the description. That's the reason we went to these parts. nasmeh
Frozen pond at the start of the path - children's joy :))1

That's how it was today. Nobody anywhere. Except a deer on the path. Now the steep path is nicely followable. Plenty of markers. And where there are overhangs there are signs so you can check them out.

Darinka, can Maksi walk in booties? Normal paw grip is that they expand when stepping. It's supposed to be the same with people too... Both are real wanderers..nasmeh

Actually I think the dog doesn't need footwear. But since the path was short he had them on. Prefers to walk barefoot. nasmeh

Those dog booties are great for sharp rock, ice or rough frozen snow and also in summer on asphalt or concrete etc. when the ground is overheated so the dog doesn't burn its paws. I was several times close to buying them for Princess, but then I rather watched where we walk and it went without. In Austria and Switzerland police dogs have booties in summer when it's scorching hot nasmeh

Majda, those little shoes have Vibram sole. And first you put on socks. Just like Bojan wrote, maybe they do come in handy sometime. It bothers me because Maxi licks the pads after we take them off him.

Darinka, rub Maxi's pads thinly with white vaseline, they have it at the pharmacy mežikanje Before putting them on, I think it will be better, i.e. without licking....
