Yesterday morning my colleague and I drove over Predel Pass to Zgornja Bavšica and just after seven at the basin we left the car. Past the Alpine Educational Centre we headed towards Planina Bukovec and through the Bukovc gullies, where we slightly missed the path, reaching the Vrh Osojnika saddle 1975. First we did Špičica, now it's time for a new challenge. According to the descriptions on the forum (thanks, guys), we reached the summit without any special problems. The path rarely leaves the ridge, so there's only a little walking on grass. We reached the top in under an hour. With Rajko we went for a recce further along the ridge towards Mali Pihavec and at the belay for descent to the notch, turned back due to too short a rope. During the day we didn't meet a living soul, except on the ascent, at the hunting hut behind the ski jumps an already cleaned chamois hanging in the gully, on the descent right there two foreigners who were returning from Bavški Grintavec.

Ugh, such a nice peak, but wrapped in four-year cobwebs. Mine says I'm in love - with the Pihavci, but yesterday I broke up with them. Well armed (heavy backpack), on the third attempt I even imagined an assistant for conquering Mali Pihavec, but it still fell through. After 130 km drive I park in front of the education center in Bavšica. Along the nice path it went "in the tight" to planina Bukovec smoothly. Two minutes above the hut a proud little man greeted me, whom I set up on the last visit, where you need to turn off the path. When it brings you back to Bukovška korita, almost two-hour pathless Way of the Cross through nettles, tall grasses and boulders begins. Luckily the night was dry, otherwise I'd come out wet like from a pool. But the nettles stung merrily. At the saddle Vrh Osojnika I realize the second rope and figure-eight are still deep down, so alone and with incomplete gear I tackle the Pihavec ridge. Besides the heavy backpack, wind with strong gusts hindered me on the sharp edge, so I had to press against the rocks a few times. I climb to the top and immediately descend to the belay, which is 55m lower. There I gear up, and descend on one rope, belaying with prusik. Good 3m before the seat my courage, knowledge and strength run out, a vertical smooth rock without holds separates me from the ground. Without double rope and figure-eight, I decided in a moment to turn back. I did somewhat count on making loops on the remaining rope to serve as ladder, but quickly pushed the idea aside. I return to the top, there I eat abundantly (to make the backpack as light as possible) and rest a bit, then slowly head to the saddle, where Akcija awaits me. Since I was on this hill last time, but the photos are a bit better than four years ago, I'm posting a few more.

Peaks will never run out, no matter how hard you try to "walk them all", on the ground you realize it's impossible. Isn't that freedom, because it never ends, you hike into infinity.

LG, you're right, but I limit myself only to two-thousanders, there aren't so many that I'd have to live two hundred years to do them all.

Tone, Matej means every nice corner above two thousand. There really are infinitely many.

Tone, I'll be angry and disappointed if in the future you don't describe how you finally got to the top of Mali Pihavec.. Alone or with company doesn't matter. You're surely capable But in every romance there's probably sometimes a day for reflection
