If anyone is tempted, the ski descent from the Kals side is super. Not too far. From the parking lot to Luknerhütte you have to carry the skis, further on it's fine. You need to catch the right 'timing' and be down by one o'clock. Above Adlersruhe, crossing to the main flank above Koednitzkess is still possible. In the morning it's still too hard, in the shade, around eleven the sun hits it and it's solid. Across the Koedniz glacier and down is poetry.

Yesterday I celebrated the Day of Resistance against the Occupier by 'conquering' Carinthia. First a night drive to Kals and then along the 'Kalser Glocknerstrasse'. Then about half an hour of dry exercises to the Luckner hut, at around 2200m. Then on skis. I was afraid of the cold, the last days it was below -10, but on Friday it finally warmed up to normal. Probably that's why the summit was crowded. The snow softened at 3500 m around noon. It wasn't icy anymore. And the crossing from Adlersruhe to the Ködnitz glacier was quite safe on skis. Lower below 2500, it gets mushy.
I recommend it for the May Day holidays.
