On the second day of "vacation" in Bovec I used for the route Gozdec - Small Babanski Škedenj - Great Babanski Škedenj - Velika Baba - Pl. Baban - Gozdec. The path to Great Babanski Škedenj is nicely trodden, the junction to MBS is quite logical although not marked and the path to the summit currently not visible. The final ascent to VBS is marked with cairns, but the path is rather poorly visible. I continued along the ridge and found passages, some even have cairns, until I reached the marked path below V. Baba. The path from the top of V. Baba to Pl. Baban is designated as marked, but currently the path itself is not visible, and the marks are really in bad condition. From the alpine pasture I climbed back to the path towards Gozdec.
On the drive back towards Bovec I also went to Plužna and saw Virje waterfall and Glijun spring. Parking fee is 5 € for 2 h.

Yesterday with Nessy from Gozdec to Veliki Babanski Škedenj. Even though it was my first time here, I followed the path without problems, both junctions are well visible and cairned. The only issue was wet grass and other vegetation, so long pants and decent high boots came in handy, as I was wet up to my knees. But on the way back I dried nicely as the sun was gaining strength mežikanje

In the forest a couple of trees obstruct the path, but they can be stepped over or bypassed. The mule track is quite overgrown in places, so you have to push through the brush. You just get a bit more wet velik nasmeh

Everything else super, interesting path, varied, especially solitary, views from the top wonderful, silence almost deafening nasmeh

We also find a water trough between the two Škedenj

For all those who don't know how these Aljaž towers open, really a wonder of technology :D

On Sunday 26.9. to the Great "Babankot".
Already at the start I knew that this day no great views. Still I believed I'd rise above the cloud cover. nasmeh

The path is nicely trodden and super traceable. Cairns for guidance. At both key points you can hardly miss. Only on descent the return to the mule track from the summit grassy slope requires a bit of attention. The mule track itself is masterfully laid out and without major efforts or dangers leads to this prominent "tooth".
The summit was "only mine" that day. On the neighboring Velika Baba I saw one more mountaineer.
Views of Kanin range were quite good, all other sides cloudy "sea". After an hour of lounging, exploring the ridge and enjoying silence I started descending. On the saddle between the two Škedenjs foggy periods became more frequent. So I rather "saved" MBS for another time. mežikanje

PS the last picture is an interesting phenomenon when clouds hide the Great Škedenj. Then Bčani can nicely see the edges of Small Škedenj, which is otherwise less visible... nasmeh

Watching sunset on Veliki Babanski Škedenj. Road to B station is normally drivable. Path to summit cleared, some snow that poses no problems. It cleared up slowly even more on descent.

1.6.2022. The best of times are the free times. As Feri Lanjšček says. Yes, yesterday we were on the path from the Boka waterfall towards Planina Baban. No one anywhere on the path. Plenty of time for dreams all day. Quite a long path through the forest. Old trees accompany you. At Planina Baban we stop a bit. We continue to the junction for Velika Baba. There, a familiar path for Marijan and me. Marks faded but still visible. Now high grass and best to go where the trail still is, although no longer visible. Renato decided to go the upper part. We along the path as much as possible. We met at the junction for Babanski Škedenj. Where we were headed. More and more clouds in the sky. Didn't find the path further. Still some snow. Found passages. And along the ridge to the summit. Descended another path. And turned past Planina Baban to the start. Quite a long tour. 1800 m elevation gain. About 12 km walking. Mainly demanding in fitness and orientation.

28.5. to Veliki and Mali Babanski Škedenj.

Start from Gozdec, ascent without peculiarities. Almost no snow on the path anymore. Just a few snow patches that can easily be bypassed or crossed. Probably a week or two ago it was a bit more "sticky". Interesting that the last entry in the logbook was 14.11.2022.

On return also ascent to Mali Babanski Škedenj. Turned from main path at ca 1750 m to mule track that I knew leads there. Up to certain elevation (where another path joins) solidly traceable, from there on one's own into steep grass. Quite quickly at top of grass where the mountain interestingly ends with narrow ridge. Ca 100 m drop on each side, below the wall on right still quite some snow. There it must have been melting nicely, as it sounded like real sewer nasmeh

Just below summit deceptive grassy ledge where after few meters turn right into short gully. Although at first glance you'd rather go straight. Descent to mentioned path junction and then right through nice passage back to main path (ca 1850 m).

Total ca 16 km and almost 1300 elevation meters.
