Triglav, Millerjev kamin and Veseli tobogan

Conditions on yesterday's (Thursday) ascent to Triglav: from Krma to Kredarica snow without collapsing, in the traverse towards the Miller Chimney a bit of everything, cornices, hard and loose snow, Miller Chimney very hard, lower part of Happy Toboggan same as in the traverse to the chimney, last part to the exit very hard and quite steep, ridge sharp, wind-blown and with strong gusts of wind. Ridge descent, due to some more fresh fallen or wind-blown loose snow, very demanding, especially the traverses under Mali Triglav. Conditions on Saturday and Sunday will probably be different. 'After every night conditions above Kredarica are different', the weatherman in the hut told us. A bit more about the ascent in photos and comments. I'm not an alpinist, so Janez doesn't convince me to post it under Alpinistic ascents. Just so no one accuses me again of boasting, like for the Horn route in the wall of Jalovec.

That's how it is Drago, in our childhood we never slid on plastic toboggans, so now, in these years you consider older, we replace them with white, snowy ones. Nothing to it, you wrote a witty comment. Thanks for the praise, Drago. Also to you, Mukica.

..congrats..I consider it an honor that I could walk part of the way to Kredarica with you nasmehRegards M.

Nice guys
Jovan's VI- rating is an alpine skiing rating and not a climbing difficulty rating.

Yesterday (08.02.2020.) we climbed Triglav via Miller chimney and Veseli toboggan. We left Krma around 6am and it took about 4h to Kredarica. After a short break we went across glacier to Miller. Glacier snow OK except some spots where we sank to knees. We went all under Miller and straight up the right chimney. Chimney snow super and we progressed well to the part where we went straight up and a bit right to Veseli toboggan. Slope in Miller max 65 degrees (my est.). Now snow on Veseli toboggan ... merry nasmeh Entrance before last ramp to top is the steepest part, slope up to 70 deg but hard due to bad snow (untreated). Snow on last ramp to ridge not ideal (hammered ice axe picks as hard as we could). Last few meters before ridge better snow. Snow on N ridge to summit excellent, nice traverse. From top down normal path to Kredarica, well kept and holds good. At Kredarica drank deserved Laško and quick down to Krma. Wonderful day, sore arms and legs today nasmeh

Shkaro has pretty much said it all. Attaching some of my ascent pics. Awesome day nasmeh
Start at 6 in Krma. We quickly gained height. It was cold and we didn't stand around too much.1
Traverse before the ascent to Prgarca.2
We needed 2 hours to Prgarca.3
After a short break at Prgarca for a snack, we go towards Kalvarija.4
Across Debele Peči towards Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe.5
View back towards Krma and VDV, Tosc and Vernar above it.6
Still a little to Kredarica.7
We took 4 hours to Kredarica. The view of Triglav always enchants.8
We cross Triglavski ledenik towards Millerjev kamin. The snow is not the best, there is a lot of slush, but it goes without major difficulties.9
View back towards our tracks and Kredarica.10
It turns steeply left upwards towards Millerjev kamin.11
The steepest part of Millerjev kamin, around 60 degrees I'd say. Snow is ideal on this part. I recommend it to everyone who has enough experience.12
After Millerjev kamin we go right towards Veseli tobogan.13
Footprints we made towards the entrance into Veseli tobogan.14
Unpleasant traverse to the right and from there directly up the ramp to the northern ridge.15
This Veseli tobogan is very steep. Snow on this part is very poor, powder and doesn't hold well, but with utmost caution it goes upwards. For downwards I don't know how it would be.16
View from the northern Triglav ridge towards Veseli tobogan from where we came.17
A couple more minutes along the magnificent and panoramic northern Triglav ridge. The snow is also excellent, hard and compact.18
last meters to the summit19
Us two on the summit of Triglav. Indescribable feeling to stand here after such an ascent. From the valley to the summit we needed a total of 6 and a half hours.20
Towards the Western Julians, Viš and Montaž dominate.21
Škrlatica, Žaga with Financarji and Visoki Rokav.22
Slowly it will be time to go down.23
The route via Veseli tobogan clearly visible.24
The steepest part of the descent over Mali Triglav. Slowly and carefully, and it works. Conditions are ideal, track perfectly made.25
The last (or first) traverse.26
Gospod Razor and Grossglockner in the background.27
Little by little, we descended from Triglav.28
Maybe the best Laško I've drunk in my life :)29
Not our favourite, but we have to go down. One would stay here on such a nice day.30
The descent went very quickly.31
Another 15 minutes on the icy road and we are at the car in Krma. Unforgettable tour for which we needed 11 hours in total. Until next time :)32
