Hi! This year we went on a trekking trip to the Norwegian gems, the Lofoten Islands. Excellent trekking, the landscape around us was even better, taking care of our always smiling faces... So I won't ramble on, best to check the photos and my thoughts on the blog... Part 1: Arrival and Monkebu hut Part 2: A, Reine and white sandy beach Horseid For now 2 parts, others I'll add as they're written. Best, Matej

Bravo, you're good. Very nice photos! Where now? To the mainland? See some new Svartisen glacier tongue? Trolltunga? Unfortunately the weather played tricks on us with my wife in the south, but still by the lake below we experienced a wonderful double rainbow... In Slovenia negotiations with Ryanair look good, which should fly among others on the Brnik - Oslo route. And thus Norway will be even closer to us... Good luck! And above all lots of nice weather!

Wow damn, that's a rainbow Well, after the Lofotens we headed straight to Oslo and then home. Svartisen tongues and Trolltunga are 2 frequently visited spots of mine, but I didn't see them this year. Probably next year if the path leads there... About Ryanair: YAY! Good news, hope the line activates as soon as possible, as I'm planning Norway again in February... And along the way 2 more posts: Trekking – Lofoti 2011 – around Agvatnet lake and Stokkvika pass Trekking – Lofoti 2011 – return and Oslo Tomorrow there will also be a post about costs and some useful links and the trip conclusion is here Best regards and thanks for reading, Matej

Lofoten Islands, Norway - Part 1 (Moskenesøya) The Lofoten Islands, thanks to Instagram, are one of the most famous and visited tourist spots in Norway. They are located 1500 km north of Oslo and about 800 km south of Nordkapp. They are most known for traditional fishing villages, sandy beaches and mountains rising up to a thousand meters above sea level offering really epic views. The roads on the Lofoten are very well maintained, the islands are mostly connected by bridges. Nature here really offers a lot, even if the weather is usually a bit moody. On the coldest day it was barely 10 degrees, on the warmest around 25, then we also bathed in the otherwise ice-cold water. Camping in Scandinavia is allowed almost anywhere, which proved best for us since we had no car. We walked a lot on foot, also used public transport. We cooked for ourselves every day, lived modestly as prices are insanely high. We climbed some peak almost every day, of which there are plenty here. Some peaks despite low height are very hard to access. The ground is usually very soggy, so good footwear is essential.
